Question Cracking noise in videos from Pixel 6 Pro Camera - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hi!
Sometimes when I listen to a video captured with the pixel 6 pro I can listen a very high cracking noise, is this happening to more people? (Video attached)
Loud sound in the attachment
Thanks

I have the same problem. I read somewhere, that its not happening when recording with 0.7x or 4.0x camera but only with 1.0x camera. Haven't tried it with other cameras yet.

Someone says that is de OIS amplified by the software in low noise environments... I not sure about it.

Finally Google says that the best solution is to return my P6P.

They want me to be there tester to see if a factory reset solves this problem because they don't know yet if it's software or hardware..

I'm not gonna say what I thought it was lol do you think it might have been that sound problem that was a while back were it sounded like tinitus type noise

same problem P6P

I had that on my last 6 Pro, now I got a RMA, will report if this is the same here or not. I think it is a bug.

I have it p6p ... Isit a return to Google resolution ?

For me the RMA was the solution

I have the same problem...

This was shot using the 1x lens at 4K 60fps (although YouTube is still processing the 4K version) and it seems ok.

I have the same problem. They Exchanged the phone and I still have the problem on the New phone.

Just test it and no problem here with 6 pro EU model

That was software problem. June update fix this.

Audio quality while recording video?

Just checking in on how audio quality is while recording video? (thinking about getting this device).
Does it get that 'underwater' effect that sometimes plagues audio in video?
Is it able to record loud noise without distorting?

Good question considering I like recording concerts I go to.. I haven't been to one yet, but would like to see someone's recording of one. I know the LG G2 was horrible at recording concerts as well as the whole line of Galaxy phones.. Sadly the best phone I've ever heard for recording loud volumes is the iphone
This is an advertised feature of the G3 and I was also wondering about it.
Coming from an S3 where you couldnt make out anything except garbled noise when recording in loud environments, I was also keen to see if this would really work.
So, just the other night I was in the pub, bunch of people, some DJ playing some cheesy tunes with decent amount of bass and lots of noise of people etc etc.. Now I don't want to upload the video because my workmates would kill me, you know the drunken antics people get into, but I will say the following about the video recording in this noisy environment:
1. You could hear everything!
2. It sounds a bit like music in a tin, but even above the music / screams and noise you could still clearly hear people speaking and what they were saying perfectly.
3. Played it back on the PC and it definitely still has bass / treble / mid range, maybe a bit too much mid range but I think that's the compromise between being able to still record voices while all this noise is happening.
4. All in all great, I am pleased.
5. Need to record at a festival though with super loud sound so that I can compare the sound to my friends Nokia & iPhone video recordings to rate it a bit better. (if you have links to videos recorded by such devices that I can compare to, I will have a look and see what I notice different / better /worse)
I am no audiophile / sound engineer, but these are my impressions of video recording in a loud environment.

Taken on an LG G3. Took it on Thursday Night. If I took video on my Galaxy S3 in the same spot, you wouldnt be able to hear anything because the bass would take over...
Here is my Galaxy S3 taking video at EDC Orlando in November 2013... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSwQ7WIrJVM too much bass...
Dang it really does take good audio in videos. Great vids!

I can confirm this phone has good audio recording at loud concerts which I go to quite often. It's not the best quality but at least it doesn't distort or get overpowered by bass (like my note 2). I am very satisfied. I can finally record artists and enjoy rewatching the clips on my phone.

I have also discovered the same problem. I have searched a bit and its turn out to be "noise cancellation" feature build in kit kat, the problem is presented in nexus 5 too, and google working on it to fix this in 4.4.3, otherwise in very loud environments like concerts noise cancellation do amazing job, but it is very bad for quite environment.
This is what bugs me most about my G3. The noise cancellation that kicks in after 3 or 4 seconds is just way too aggressive for the sake of reducing distortion in harsh environments. It practically ruins the sound quality unless you have someone speaking nearby. Every video I have taken sounds muffled and garbled.
This is definitely one area in which I prefer my old One M7 with the "HDR" dual membrane microphones which would simultaneously be clear and avoid distortion. LG should have taken this route if they were serious about avoiding distortion.

I found this thread while searching for a solution to very audio problem mentioned here.
I also have an LG G3 and have recently returned from a week holiday only to find that the 140 clips i took all have this audio problem.
Nauvho, you mentioned that LG/Google has fixed this in an update. I received the V10g update recently. However, it still has this problem.
Is this the same update that fixed it for you?
Cheers!

LG G4 Camera and OIS performace

Hi,
I have read the reviews of LG G4 camera and particularly OIS videos comparison. I came across the jerky videos issue with LG G4 OIS. Also checked this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-bad-ois-t3103334)
I Want to know that does G4 really has some issue with OIS? How's the videos quality with OIS?
If you're walking it's very bad, if you stay steady it helps, so don't walk while recording...
No problems here, recordings seem pretty smooth on both 1080P and 4K while walking
Not sure what's up on his end.
Yup, no problem here too, everything is superb
If you walk like you don't care it will be bad as it tries to compensate too much movement. I walk while filming but try to dump the move with my feet a bit flexed and it works ok for me
Sent from my H815 using Tapatalk
OIS in video sucks anyway, it makes the pictures distorted
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acUEAUx4WJI
Edit : the G4's OIS instead of helping stabilize video it even adds some jerky, stoopid.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7YomVQb4Vo
The best for pictures, but the worst for video.
Can confirm that the OIS is not good while walking, strange movement that does not look good.
OIS in such a small device is not a 3000$ shoulder mounted gimbal rig, so having jerky video while moving is normal. Plus it is a sign, that it is working.
If you want to disable OIS while shooting a video just get ProShot (you can also disable noise reduction).
Great app. You actually disable it even while shooting the video, really cool feature. Works only in the app.

Of course, but the 6s + OIS works way better while walking.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks a lot for your opinions.
Actually I was comparing the OIS quality of G4 with other phones and I was wandering that why this phone results in lots of jerks while other (like S6) don't. The reviews I have seen on youtube were uploaded back in 2015 and I was thinking that if this OIS issue is a software issue then it should have been fixed by now.
So that's why I just wanted to get the real opinion that is it really an issue (a hardware one) or has it been fixed now (if it was a software bug)? Or if its still the same then can we say that S6 OIS produces much better stable videos then G4?

They lied or they have new LG G4's special new brand..., or they don't know how to watch a video, I told the OIS helps a lot if you tried to stay steady like for taking a pictures, even if you shoot a video but keep steady, but once you make a little big movement faster it starts to be very bad, the OIS move so much that it adds some distortion which make the video so much more jerky than phone which does not have OIS, so the LG G4's OIS is very bad while walking...
I think sample videos would help more, both from those who are claiming that its good and from those who are saying that its not.

I agree, but the problem is that there's no samples with good, because the OIS is not good, simple as it... ^^, Nevertherless, I've never seen a good one.

Well I have seen some mix response on this. Some videos are good and some are not. So may be there is an issue with particular models or firmware version.
Which model are you using and what is the firmware/OS version?

phones are too low

Hello everyone.
I was comparing the same video playing on Iphone 6 and LG g4 and iphone sounds really lowder when connected to a ear phone.
Do you know how to solve it? without rooting your mobile? (don't want to loose waranty on a phone like g4 that tends to break sooner or later).
Tks,
Nope, unlike the screen fix I posted HEREfor the sound I'm afraid you'll have to root. (there are "solutions" but none are worth it)
Seriously, i've bought the G4 today and it's really loud, to a point where it disturbs me, and i don't have my total audition, so i think you are going the same way i went.

The device speaker is waaay to high
the earphones on the other hand.....
Actually you can use one of the equaliser apps. I use Equalizer fx and it has a loudness function which helps a lot.

You can also use PowerAmp which is a music player (one of the most popular) and it includes an amplifier and equaliser. No root needed!

Men.. I was already talking about the earphones, not the about the speaker ..
Anyways, i got back the money I spent on the device, I was extremely unsatisfied, it came with a defective battery, they replaced it, then I started seeing screen burns.. so I was mad, and i got my money back.
Now I have the Redmi Note 3 Pro.

Well, until now it's behaving really like I expected, the only throwback is if you want to take pictures in low light environment, the secondary camera is just awful, that primary one, you have to put it onto manual mode and of course pick the setting to have a decent photo.
I get a screen on time of 5 hours, consisted on gaming(light games), browsing , messaging, listening to music (play music) and going on YouTube, recording videos in slow motion and taking pictures .. Instagram .. Snapchat.. and all of sorts, never more than 20 minutes on this last 2.
This is just being the 3rd day im with it, but if you want, when it makes a full week, I can talk about the experience again ?.

The device is absolutely keeping up the expectations, and i know, it's more than the week that i mentioned, but i was busy studying for exams.
I have had the device completely standard till 28 october, it's absolutely good and it keeps up with the user demand, however sometimes i felt the necessity of cleaning manually the apps on RAM.
Since day 28, while i was waiting to have permission to unlock the bootloader, i upgraded from stock lollipop, to android marshmallow, the miui in beta state, the global one.
It's even better, but ok it have some bugs, but nothing you can't fix in a daily basis, and they are not so often, so i think it was worth it.
Then i wanted even more freedom and i installed TWRP and flashed nougat, the only issue i had was not being able to make phone calls , (because for some reason the mic turned himself off, and the earpiece also.) The rest is remarkable it's blazing fast, i didn't even was believing it was the same phone, so i'm really pumped up to see miui 9 based on nougat , it will be so, so AWESOME !
However.. the issue made me go back to marshmallow, but this time not a stock rom.

Video call quality bad- beauty mode ON

The Duo video call looks really soft like there is an active face retouching; I have good WiFi (56MBps). The quality on whatsapp is equally terrible but without face retouching.
Do the custom ROMs have the same issue? Or is it just my device?
Current ROM- stock December, stock kernel, rooted with magisk
Is it the quality of the person you're video chatting with? If so, then it's probably them and not you.

My face is so soft, even in high lighting, it look like a beauty filter found on Chinese phone. It wasn't doing that on my 2 previous non Google phone.

From the screenshots I've taken last week while on a video chat, I look pretty fine with smile lines and facial scruff showing up. Nothing special with my internet speed 50/50. You stated you have 56 Mbps speed, that's down and up? Also for clarification, did you mean Mbps but autocorrected to MBps?

Google only do security updates... You need to buy a S23 ultra to solve your problem
Samsung must have manual camera controls in its camera app. You have to keep the camera iris open for hours to get star trails and Google doesn't have that capability to the best of my knowledge. However there are camera apps on the play store that do have manual controls.
That said, the best camera is the one you have on you. In this case however I do think a dedicated camera would be a better option. At least you wouldn't be draining the battery while focusing on the night sky.

1. It was a expose by a redditor about specifically a feature by samsung that has existed for at least 3 years so no lawsuits are imminent as samsung hasn't claimed that the phone can take a pure image
