Thanks Mike!

Will this actually work? I remember back in the Hero days this kind of thing was a pain in the ass though. However, that was HTC.

May try tonight. Question though, how do you determine the "killer" battery life without having one?

LOL, its init.d lowmemkiller tweaks. They are pretty much universal. I have them in my ROM as well...
Im waiting on the notification power controls built in or ported. You have experience with that?
If that was implemented we could have a base rom with notifications to start with

How many gnex user....

Run them purely stock
Pure stock, rooted, custom kernel?
need more high def music...
I've ran stock for 6 months. After that my urge to tinker with stuff got the best of me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I ran stock from launch day until JB dropped. Although I unlocked and rooted in May just to get the leaked 4.0.4 update.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Pure stock
I unlocked and rooted as soon as it was activated Lol
I'm getting a replacement unit soon I'm planning on running it pure stock until jb hits from sprint
Mine is as stock as the day I got it. Haven't had the need for root...
Yet.

I bought it with all intention to play with it. I found myself so busy lately, and I am so happy with stock performance, that I even unrooted and 're locked last week.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I was running stock, but wanted more customization... Running AOKP right now, but I wouldn't mind switching to stock
I unlocked and rooted it, but still run stock. It works for me so I have no use for a custom ROM unless it would do something fantastically amazing for me.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It was stock for the duration of the car ride home
So, about 30 minutes.

Stock but unlocked
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Unlocked and had custom rom running during it's first 10 minutes with me.
Unlocked, rooted, and running stock 4.1.1
No need for a custom ROM at this point.Next update will put supercurio's OTA RootKeeper to the test, but I have complete confidence it will work just fine!
Stock. No need for custom ROMs, and I use to build them...
Sent from my Stock AOSP Android 4.1.1 Galaxy Nexus.
I went about with stock for about a month before I got addicted to jelly bean and rooted and now running CN(A) 3.4.1 or codenameandroid 3.4.1 and I love it.
Galaxy Nexus (GSM) - rooted (SuperSU)
ROM - CN(A) or codenameandroid
Kernel - Stock Jelly bean kernel (I think)
Overclocked - overclocked to 1.8ghz
I'm a crackflashing root fiend. I've rooted and flashed every device I've ever gotten my hands on. Until now.
I've had the GSM GNex for a month with no desire to root or flash. Until CM10 stabilizes I don't think I ever will. Google has gotten so much right with JB.
I like having a phone that just works. Some day I'm sure...but not any time soon.
Sent from my rooted Kindle Fire running CM10 SGT7 using Tapatalk 2
I unlocked and rooted a week after I got it about 3 months ago.
I came from a Motorola Photon 4G, with a godly amount of ROMs, cool things like "Kitchen sink", touch based installers (not TWRP), and general goodies. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed, now waiting for a SIII.

Nothing wrong with that.. I'm sorta stock but I've had no need to run a custom ROM since JB, IMO is perfect the way it is for my needs.
Unlocked rooted and running paranoid android all as soon as my hands touch the phone lol
Sent from my paranoid android Gnex
I do. Stock JB Rooted with Unlocked bootloader and Kernel.
It's work so good that I don't need custom rom xD

the only other possibilities for the EVO 4G would be the EVO 3D or the EVO shift which has a slide out keyboard and stock sense 2.1 which is for landscape mode when the keyboard slides out
BTW, love your inverted Gapps for the SGS3, use them all the time. thanks for fixing the mail.apk!!!

Should I flash...help

Here's the deal. I have one of the gnex's that had the bad 4g radio and couldn't stay connected to the network logger than 10 minutes. The jb update finally came and fixed. Scared to flash custom Rom in fear old problem might return. Has anyone had one the previously faulty phone and has since flashed a custom Rom with success?

You have nothing to lose but some time if you flash something and don't like it. If the update fixed your problem, almost all custom roms will be using an android version at least equal to what you are running now (most probably newer). You can make a nandroid to restore if you find you have problems with whatever rom you flash. If you don't want to do that, you can always use the factory images posted by google and restore your phone back to the version you are using now. Updated radios probably helped more than anything in a kernel or /system (which is all most custom roms contain - I don't think I've ever seen any that contain radios for the galaxy nexus).
Now running liquid smooth. 4g still strong thanks for the info.

Question about ROM compatiblity

Hey guys, I'd like to start by just saying I'm no stranger to rooting and romming.
I'm about to root my wife's Epic 4g Touch as the latest update is killing Battery Life and Sprint ID is force closing up a storm. I believe latest is FL24.
I found easy root instructions and a tutorial to install Agat recovery. I'm guessing there is no official CWM?
My actual question is this. On my Galaxy Nexus and formerly my HTC Hero I was able to flash any ROM, however on my LG Optimus I had to flash only ROMs that were compatible with the specific radio/baseband. Is this phone similar? And what would be a good stock ROM (includes touchwiz) for someone who's an intermediate techy. She doesn't do this stuff herself but can fix minor quirks.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Modems (radio/baseband) are interchangeable between GB and ICS releases, doesn't matter what ROM you are on. JB modems can only be used with TW JB ROMs though.
Having said that, I kept my wife on GB. calks 3.0 rom. She wanted a different look so now she's on blazerRom. But for the non techies who just want a stable phone, calks GB ROM was the best for stock looks.

Is the JB modem one of the leaked ones? I may go the simple route by just rooting and manually removing Sprint ID since I believe that to be the primary cause of the problems. Maybe get a custom kernel to go with it.
