It's too big! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

At 135 mm tall, this is too big. 12 mm taller than the Nexus S that I owned.
I was worried at first with the 4.65" screen, but it wont have buttons.
Turned out it is still big.
Even bigger (taller) than the SGS II !
Oh well, as long as I can still put it in my front jeans pocket, thats OK.
People will get used to it.

This was my main concern as well.
Hope they can make the next nexus smaller

Small is out man... BIG is the wave of the future and I for one am glad about this.
I own the International SGSII @ 4.3" and also own a Samsung Infuse 4G @ 4.5" and I love them both!!! I will be getting the Galaxy Nexus @ 4.65" AND will also be getting the Galaxy Note @ 5.3"... This is how the market will be going from here on in. I don't think u will find a "top end" phone from here on in that will be less than 4.5"...

I have big hands, and my phone never goes in my pant pocket, so its A-OK with me

If it's too big use something else. And you never know when you get it in your hands you may like the bigger size.
*Get Chance and Luck*

I am buying it precisely because of its screen size...

all this big/small talk reminds me of this...

I knew it wouldnt be too big. I am surprised it s a cm taller that gs2. I think they definitely went taller because it would fit in pocket/pouch better.
I voided my warranty and your mum.

135 is actually small and why the hell would you compare it to the Nexus s or Galaxy s 2?
Another question, how do you put it in your jean pocket? Are you that flexible?

So basically, in 10 years when smartphones are 20" size. "IT'S THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE!" -.- I believe that when manufacturers hit a certain point they'll work on managing the size.

What do you mean? I can put anything in my pants pocket with my... oh wait... arm. I don't do circus tricks to do that.

Are you suggesting to compare it with television? With ipad?
Doh... Come on, I just want to see how big it is compared to something that I know or own.
And yes, I put my Nexus S in a pouch made from soft fabric. Then slip it into my front jeans pocket.

Unique accesory for cooling down your phone or yourself

I noticed the other day when I was playing n64oid and fpse with sixaxis contoller app using MHL to HD adpater. Since the phone is charging and displaying on the tv as well as running 2 apps it gets pretty hot.
So I started looking for a portable fan that i could set behind my phone why using the kickstand on the case to blow some cool air on it. As well as keep me cool
I finally found the smallest fan ever and has really good reviews.
(click picture for where to buy)
I will update this with how it works when I get it...if it doesn't work that well then I will still use it as a portable fan.
Yes I know you can underclock but you don't want to when you are playing emulators that need lots of power!!!
Yes you can kill apps but never liked doing that....
Just thought I share in case someone had the same thought I did.
I don't think a tiny little fan could really cool down your phone too much, nor keep you cool.

Plus if it doesn't work i will just return it and get my money back
Haha, people will make anything to make a buck or two. If my phone begins to get a bit toasty, I usually just take it out of the case and lay it on a cool surface for a bit. That seems to do the trick and it's free, lol.

i was thinking of setting the fan sideway maybe a little tape on the table right behind it.. Ill will figure it out. I was originally thinking of ripping out the fan and motor and making a custom casing for it and attach it to the case somehow, but will look into it..

I found a flat heatsink that could possibly be made into a back cover, but we would ideally still need some way to solidly connect it to the hot parts of the SoC. It would involve breaching the plastic "firewall" of the housing, and replacing it with a short section of copper plate (i.e. a penny). Using a little thermal compound would make it even more effective at removing heat.
Can you picture this with a cutout for the camera pod?
On the liquid cooling front, I found some USB powered water pumps and cooling block.... If your Gnex is getting this hot, you might have a problem.
Hold the phone! This is much closer to the size we need. Peltier coolers work on thermocouple effect. It might use a little power, but will actually reduce temperature on one side, by a few degrees!
You could buy a mini fridge, then drill a hole in the front for wires:silly:
You can then also have cold drinks whilst playing your n64 games

Lifeproof case for S3?

So after going to my local ATT corp store and seeing this case it looked pretty interesting. Do they only make cases for the iPhone? Tried doing some research and found nothing! Only iPhone cases.
Iphone and Ipad only. I would definitely be in for one for the s3 if the decided to make it though.

Thanks for posting that link. I have wasted lots of $$$ on screen protectors because I never liked how I applied them. No matter what I do, i get dust/bubbles, and all sorts of other issues. That roll-on screen protector is going to save me so much money and pain/anger.
If you have a hard time with screen protectors you should go check out ghost-armor.com . I have my phone wrapped in clear with a second layer of white carbon fiber, they will do the whole installation for you and they even covered my flygrip in white carbon fiber as well
My S3 gets me Blazed
Otterbox is coming out with a similar case called the Armor. Its been announced for the iPhone, but if anybody would build a non-apple version it would probably be them. I would consider asking them.

Doubtful, Otterbox has their collective head so far up apples ass that it's not even funny. They couldn't even produce a case for the S3 release even though this phone has sold millions already.
I emailed Otterbox earlier to ask them about the Armor case. They don't have plans to make it for any other phones... iPhone only.

They could easily sell 100k cases for the s3 (10M sold so far).
I would buy it immediately
I would jump right on that as well. They did have a post on their site a few months back that they were working on coming out with cases for Samsung phones. It would seem that the s3 should be at the top of the list when they do.
It would be nice to have for kayaking and snowboarding, nice for listening to music in the shower too!
I bought the otterbox commuter with an hd invisishield and loved it. Then upgraded to the defender and while I like the defenders premise.. I hate that I get dust under the screen cover through the miniscule opening at the top where the front facing camera and ear speaker is. I may go back to the commuter and hd screen.

Junk, don't waste your money. I had to return 3 cases because they cracked. Read more here:

Damn, were they real though? I read somewhere that the fakes do crack like hell.
Sent from my sexy white Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile
I actually just got my candyshell a couple of days ago. I was put off by the 'cracking' from the reviewers, but I ordered it from Amazon and they have a great return policy. I also had a speck when I had the iphone 3gs and I liked it. It provided protection without being too bulky. Too bad they don't have it in white!
I was actually surprised as it was better than the iphone version - the buttons are really easy to press (on the iphone case, I always had to push down really firmly on the volume rocker and power button because the rubber didn't have as much give). So far, I like it as it also gives me something more solid to hold, I'm probably the minority but the naked phone feels so light, like I'm going to snap it in half. No complaints with cracks so far, will update if there is.

Thanks! Yeah, the cracking put me off too, but I saw reviews that said how easy the buttons were to press and its a pretty slick case so I bought one.
Yeah, actually the speck case for the galaxy s3 seems less flimsy than the iphone version. To me, anyway.
Case is junk. Super hard to get the phone out of and the cracking is real.
Get a case mate tough or a incipio sylicrilic.
I have this case. It's my everyday case right now. I've put it on and off the phone multiple times and never had any issues. If you do it as per the instructions then it comes out easy. Mine has not cracked. This is the best case I have found that is slim fitting, has a lip to keep the screen and camera lens off of tables, and covers the buttons. I would recommend it.

Why didn't he request that from those that mentioned out before me? That's what I thought........
I remember reading somewhere on another forum that it was one specific color that was cracking and Speck stopped selling that color due to the issues. I believe the other colors were all fine with no problems. I think it was the greyish bluish one that they stopped.

Yeah, it was the Pebble / Bayou color that was having issues. I can't seem to find the thread that I read that on but if you go to the Speck website you'll see that they show 5 color options in one of the photos but you can only buy 4 of them. Are you guys comfortable with it? I keep seeing posts not only in this forum of it cramping peoples hands etc etc.....
I'm not finding it that hard to hold, one handed operation can be challenging once in a while especially when reaching for that top left portion of the screen but no biggy.
How many people are finding it uncomfortable to hold this device. I'd also like to suggest..

lol.
It took me a couple days to get use to.
The right case makes a big difference on how it feels in hand.
I wont be going back to smaller size device that's f,sure.
To hold it in one hand, I support it with my pinky from the bottom so I can reach the bottom of the phone to type. It mostly gives cramps to my hand but not a big deal. I had the same issue with my sgs2.
But 2 handed operation is excellent.
Actually I got used to this phone's size so fast that I started to feel the screen is still small. so I grabbed my sgs2 and played it a while. I felt amazed again to hold my note2
This is why I'm trying to avoid the candyshell hard cases or forget the otter box. I want something as slim as the device and still offer decent protection. I'm hoping the seidio surface does the job and hardly adds size. I ordered one last night.

I came over from the iPhone 4S, which I still have to use as my work phone , and using the iPhone now it feels absolutely uncomfortably small. I have zero issues with the size of the note at all.

As long as you didnt break your nails....
It took me all of a day to get used to it, and I have average-sized hands. I try to use it two-handed when I can, but with one-handed operation, it's a pretty simple task, especially with Swype.

Premium Tablet "Bags"

Hey guys..
Been looking around for a while now, and I'm trying to see if I can find anything like a "messenger bag" but for tablets or specifically for the Nexus 7. Here's one example i found:
http://www.sfbags.com/products/muzetto-outback/muzetto-outback.php
But I'm not quite sure I like the design of that one much. Does anyone know of any other bags like this for carrying around my Nexus 7 and other things?

I had been considering a bag just for my N7 but i also carry a 13.3 zenbook around sometimes so having a separate bag might be overkill. I see here that you were looking at a vertical bag in the 10 inch size for ipads. I have an STM Scout 2 that i used with my Asus TF101+keyboard dock that i'm quite fond of. It seems STM has a newer bag with more pockets:
STM Linear Bag
Maybe that might be a more fitting design. I find that around these sizes is the smallest you can get without looking a bit silly.
If you want to spend an outrageous amount of money on messenger bags, oberondesign.com has some .
go check out a womens purse store. no lie.

Maxpedition makes some bombproof gear, if it can stand up to regular use in bush Alaska, it can handle anything.

found the Kato when looking for their 7" ipad mini sleeve:

That hazard 4 tanto bag seems perfect!

That Hazard 4 Launchpad Mini bag looks pretty nice...And it's got a great price too. Definitely will consider it.

Your Noatak seems overloaded, lol.
For real, a bag made to fit a 7" tablet would just look like a purse. Why not just throw it into whatever bag you're currently using? Or... any bag. This thread is silly.

Sometimes it's more convenient to have something you want than have. It's like putting a iPhone in a pouch made for a note 2. It fits but not the way you want.

Think of it as you will...But I do not currently have any "bags" to place my Tablet in. I've never owned a tablet before, nor do I use any laptops. I have my Desktop and my smartphone...And my smartphone usually just goes into my pocket..And while the N7 does fit into most of my pockets, it isn't exactly ideal.
So if anything's silly...It's that you think this thread is silly.

I don't want a bag for my n7 but well said. To those that do want one I totally can understand why cause some of the bags look sick.

It was, stuffed with a Patagonia Nano Puff pullover, a flask of Blanton's bourbon, a Samsung Infuse, a DT Windstopper balaclava, and some snacks, in addition to what it normally carries.
Usually it just carries my lunch and the emergency field gear.
Looking into a Plan B from Hazard 4:
Swissgear Vertical Travel Bag
I use the SwissGear Vertical Travel Bag. I don't know if Target still carries them or not, but this is a great bag. You will want a case on your N7 as it does not have much padding. I can just fit my Asus Tf300T with a case and my N7 in this bag with several accessories. I bought it a few years ago, so it may be hard to find.
