Ring of Yellow Spots on Screen (White Background) - HTC One V

Has anyone seen a ring of yellow spots on around the screen when view on a white background ? or am I the only one holding a lemon?
the yellow spots doesn't seem to hamper normal operation so i haven't really bang any tables at HTC yet but it is disturbing for a brand new device.
i'm also hoping this is the glue that is holding the screen to the phone and it wil eventually dry up and disappear like Samsung S2

Thanks for posting.
On my 3rd trip to have my second unit replaced, the third one had a huge yellow spot that's visible on the welcome screen (HTC). It's located at the upper left corner. It's interesting to note however that I did not notice yellow spots on the first two units.
The store I went to only had three on stock, and all of 'em had "cosmetic" defects. The third one having the yellow spot and a silvery dot inside the glass that's not part of the LCD nor the bezel. Dunno where that came from.
Cancelled my purchase and I guess will just hold off on buying a new one 'til HTC can sort their sh** out.

my dad got the HTC one v a few days ago..it had one yellow spot in the corner
..so i had it replaced & the new one doesn't seem to have any such yellow dots
after 3days of use..hope it stays that way

Today when I was browsning on a white homepage I noticed this as well. But it's so little that I don't see it as problem.

i bought a 2nd unit for my dad and it had the SAME problem .. yellow dots all around the sides of the screen. I'm suspecting that it's the glue that's holding the screen. it's not a functional issue but looks ugly that's all. Now considering if I should return both sets to HTC.

starting to see people reporting these yellow spots .. i'm hoping these spots will disappear with use but doesn't seem to be.

i was feeling kind of down because of it actually, thought that was me having this problem only. but other people encountering the same, someone went to have a one to one replacement, yet, still having this issue, hope HTC will improve soon
Here are some pictures when I was unboxing it *just for sharing*

I went to replace the 2 phones at the service center yesterday and they wouldn't commit to a 1-1 replacement claiming they need to get "management" approval. They also won't confirm that the new replacement phones will solve the problem saying that the replacement phones (if given) comes straight from the warehouse.
will update what happens when i receive the new phones.

so, just go to service center, we will get new phone?

if you notice, they didn't say that .. at least not the guys at the service center.
I'm still waiting for the replacement phones (3 working days so far) so ..

okay .. i just got back one of the phones (for some strange reasons, both my replacement phones are coming in from different sources and different schedules) and it DOESN'T have the yellow spots !!
crossing my fingers that the 2nd phone will not have any yellow spots as well.

it knew it was too good to be true .. the 2nd phone HAD the same yellow spots. But now i know HTC is capable of phones without the yellow spots, i called HTC Support and rejected the yellow spots. I just wish there is a way to blow up this matter and make HTC take more responsibility and attention into this matter. the issue seems worst then i thought it would be.
#1. Brand New Phones 2 Sets - Yellow Spots
#2. Replacement Phone (1 Set) - Yellow Spots
Now waiting for HTC call center to get management approval to get a replacement phone for my replacement phone for the SAME yellow spot issues.

Suddenly i have spots on the bottom screen wth :/

Yellow dots at bottom
..

I returned the first phone I received because it had a faulty touch screen and the yellow spots.
The new one I got still has yellow spots but the touch screen atleast works.
Also, almost every one I know who owns a HTC One V has these yellow spots, just some of them have not noticed.

I have been using HTC One X for over a week now. When I got it first, I noticed the yellow spot right away on left bottom corner. It was specially visible in White/grey background.
I found a pressure point just beside the yellow spot. When I gently pushed that area with tip of my nail the yellow spot would disappear. Although it would come right back when I release the pressure.
I kept doing it for days and guess what now yellow spot is almost gone...maybe 5% left or maybe its just me now
Let me know if this works for any one. Good luck

I have the exact same problem (at the same spot - bottom left)
I tried what you did and the yellow spot disappears when I press it, but goes back when I release. I'll try to do that for a couple of days, let's see if it works.

the first 3 sets of HTC ONE V had yellow spots .. only the 4th set did not have yellow spots .. that's a 75% fallout rate .. don't try to help HTC ... DEMAND FOR A NEW PHONE with a WORKING SCREEN that YOU DESERVE !!
I'm trying to get a replacement for the 3rd SET of BRAND NEW HTC ONE V from HTC but they are giving me all sorts of excuses.

One X Build Quality Issues

Decided to start to start a new thread for people to discuss any build quality problems with the One X as I feel a little underwhelmed with mine. The power button doesn't seem to have any feedback click and only seems to register input if you press it hard, the screen surround has a bit of excess plastic sticking out on the top left side that I keep catching my finger on and the phone flexes and creaks when pressure is applied in certain areas (when held to my ear during a conversation creaks like an old bed!).
Is anyone else getting these problems? I might send it back as the creaking during phone calls is driving me nuts :/
good idea ill post this here too
just wondering anyone with the white version suffering from suspected hardware/build quality problems?
maybe they rushed the grey we didn't even see the final retail version until very late

Wondering the same.. I intend on ordering a white one once this douche finally pays for my Note.
The build quality issues I have are with the white version.
ok colors theory seems off
now, build, anyone with an Asian version with issues?

color? where is it made?
Mine is made in Taiwan. In the past the UK has normally got Taiwanese HTC phones and the rest of the EU having Chinese made ones. But as this is a new model, the initial batches may all be from Taiwan. I would expect Taiwanese made handsets to be slightly better in terms of quality.
I don't have any creaking or bits of unfinished plastic. Mine is white. I do see a couple of tiny imperfections in the white plastic. One is like a tiny grey dot. And the other is a tiny hole. But I am being very very fussy to notice this.
I do wonder how durable this polycarbonate surface is...if you rub at it to clean it, does it take the matt finish off making it shiny? (xperia S is AWFUL for this)
very good ,up you !!!

The creaking on mine is most noticeable when applying pressure to the top right of the handset. Does anyone else get creaking when squeezing this area between thumb and forefinger?

Grey one from t-mobile UK not even getting the screen glitches others are reporting
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I've a grey one that I picked up from t-mobile store. I've put on a different thread the issue I have with screen ripples on the side when pressure is applied but its actually much worse as what has happened is that the phone screen pops in and out of the casing in the top right and left corners and noticeable can be pushed and clicked in. Phone hasn't even been in my pocket yet...Will be swapping it out then.

Is the screen loose as if its not been glued properly because that's how my one is. But yeah I get a creaking and clicking noise
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yeah it's as if the screen hasn't been fixed correctly. Mine also has those screen artifacts when pressing in the top right. Feels like the screen is loose.
Received my grey one x today.
the phone works like a charm only there is one big issue with the camera
everywhere I aim it the screen gets covered with red stripes. Now I don't know much about camera's but this is not good
dl . dropbox . com/u/71154395/IMAG0017 . jpg (i'm new here so can't post a pic)
This does not appear on the front camera so i guess its hardware issue with the back camera?
What do you guys think? should I return the phone?
Not good to hear build issues
I wouldn't expect great build quality from HTC, it'sa never been high for the last few top of the line HTC phones I owned. That was the reason I went with Samsung phones and it was such a change for better, the parts are just put together so much better. It's not about parts quality, but build quality.
Now I'm back to HTC getting One X (replacing G Nexus) but I fear I will see those little things not done right again. Sometimes its creaking case, sometimes it's the screen that has not been put in perfectly in leaving more space between screen edge in one side than the other side, or that dust I used to get under the screen (happened with both phones).
I think the most annoying thing is all the reviews harped on about how the One X has premium build. Hoping I'll get a replacement that's better put together than this one!

Maybe they were all "sponsored".
Mine (White) has no squeaking/creaking issues. The glass seems to be solidly attached to the body.
I do have a problem with the finish of the polycarb body. On the left side of the body, right below the micro usb, there's a small spot in where you glide your finger you will feel some roughness. There's also a tiny tiny hair like specimen which seems to be glued on the body. Its not noticeable so im cool with it.

[Poll] Yellow spots - lets make it clear!

I know there has been some "yellow spots" threads but I wanna know how many people here have those problems and how many of them have returned the device / or the spots went away.
I will make a poll where you can choose between options so please, if you can answer we can get more detailed info about this issue.

Just got mines yesterday and it has yellow spots, giving it a couple days though to see if there is any change
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
My first one had yellow spots in the bottom. Had it for 3 weeks and it got slightly worse (more visible). Returned and got a new phone, no yellow spots on this one.
Just swapped out my third HT23 Gray today, this makes #4. First was very bad flicker, 2nd and 3rd both had yellow spots that I didn't see until I had used the phone for awhile. Hope this one is better, because I'm going back to Vancouver end of the week and there's no Carphone Warehouses there.
I think after 2days of use my yellow spots started to fade. I can name some thoughts why this could happen:
1. I got used to it (although I would hardly say that because im rly annoyed by it and my eyes are "on" the spots all the time
2. my device is not heating up that much anymore (or its just because its colder outside)
3. Yellow spots are actually fading
im giving it some final days until i send it back for new hox
what do u guys think about it?
My brothers One X had the yellow spots on the left side of the screen and when he pressed on them they expanded. He returned and replaced the handset. The spots weren't on the new device.

my new 3rd replacment one x has spot at bottom right of screen its really annoying as your eye is drawn to it right away , this is 3rd device with this and screen flicker problems , enough is enough for me , jumping ship and trying the sg3
I don't have any yellow spots or flickering or whatnot...kinda feel left out
I'm at my first HOX and i have no problems with it,i hope i won't have problems in the future..
I saw the yellow spots on mine when the phone got really hot charging, but after it cooled down it disappeared, i haven't seen them reappear.

Mines are visible again when phone gets warm again but I noticed that it is not getting as hot as before (45degrees on 1st day, only max 39degrees after 2days of use) :b
My first handset was free of yellow spots (but had a host of other build defects), my second handset had a large yellow spot top centre of screen which went over the course of 2 days.
My first One X made in china had a yellow spot on the top right corner of the screen at times it's hardly visible. My 2nd One X has no faults at all (made in Taiwan).

The yellow spots are from the screen flex issue, my One X flexes badly on the edges the yellow spot fades but if I press in the screen edges again the spot comes back. I think its the LCD doesn't like being squashed.
I bet my bottom dollar you guys have squeezed your phones in your jeans pockets and its slightly crushed the LCD slightly that's why you suddenly notice the yellow spots, and why they fade over time, exact same thing is happening to me.
I will try and post a video demonstrating what's happening.
My first, second and third devices all had the yellow spot issue (among others) and at that point I decided enough is enough and got my money back. Well done to all of you who haven't had any issues, it's like you've won the lottery, I guess I've just had some bad luck.

It is not the same issue, mine needs to get hot so i can see yellow spots. After I put my HOX down and let it cool, those spots almost completly disappear. It's not because I have squeezed it because the first time I have noticed yellow spots my device was 2hours old. It wasn't in the pocket because I just admired and played with it and after it got hot those yellow spots appeared
Is the screenshot in post #13 meant to show the yellow spots? I cant see anything in the picture...

Something similar happened to me. The day I got my phone I was cleaning the display and some of the cleaner leaked between the glass and the panel. It grew in to a big grey blob and started moving from the top of the phone to the bottom. It went completely away overnight. It just happened again a few days ago when I was putting a screen protector on. Same thing, moved from top to bottom and went away overnight. Hope your's does the same.
BTW, from the AT&T logo you're in the wrong forum. I'm guessing the displays act the same though.

The One XL (AT&T) display is made by Sony. Maybe it's different than the Acer and Sharp in the One X? The Gorilla Glass is laminated to the display and I'd guess that would be the same part regardless of who produced the panel itself. I wonder if yours is just the display part w/o the GG glass overlay? But then what's the moisture "blob" in between? Curious.

And that is my exact question, I just did some comparison with my shattered screen, the "blob" in the middle is exactly how its suppose to look like, I am guessing it is not firmly attached to lcd?

This actually makes me wonder, and as far as I once heard the designs on the at& the and the International one x may seem alike but as far as I am concerned there is a minimal design difference, but don't take my answer for 100% sure, but that's maybe a possibility. Correct me if I'm wrong.
A friend of mine just had his digitizer replaced after he smashed it and has the same issue as you. Looks like it's not bonded to the LCD properly, the screen flexes when pressed. He is sending it back for repair again.
This is why my One X repair is delayed.
I broke my One X screen over a month ago now. It's been at the repair centre for that long. The reason is that the market has been flooded with cheap, hand-made, screens that have this exact problem and they are waiting for proper screens to become available. The official screens are bonded using a machine - very few of these cheap ones are fault free.
Likewise, if you have the digitizer replaced by a 3rd party, the chances are that they will do it by hand, leading to this problem. Be careful where you send your One X for repair if you do not use HTC themselves.
Unusually glossy? Sure there isn't a protection film over it?

I think you're spot on. I'd imagine it would be almost impossible for knock-off screens to ever be produced as well as the originals based on this...
"The 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, which is the new version that's thinner and stronger. We first saw the Gorilla Glass 2 back at CES 2012, though the glass manufacturer did not reveal then which handsets will be featuring the technology. HTC also told us that the One X features optical lamination, a process through which the screen ends up laminated to the glass, resulting in better viewing angles. We found this to be true, and having the screen so close to the glass makes it appear brighter and more visible under sunlight."
Isnt there any kind of liquid glue we can use to make the screen crack invisible ?
No. If you want a perfect screen replacement, suck it up and pay for the price of an out of warranty repair.

I put on a privacy screen and it looked great, the crack is hidden perfectly. Then I turned on my phone only to find out the image looked awful.
I havent found anyone happy with these 3rd party screen replacements. I am very sad, I love my phone but looking at a horrible crack makes me want to smash it against a wall.
From now on I am putting a heavy duty case on my phones.
I dont want to troll but my SGS2 had plenty of terrible falls including a 7 foot fall against a harsh Walmart parking lot. Not even a scratch. My hox was shattered for nothing

Yellow spot on screen

Hello
I have asus zenfone 2 ze551ml,
My screen shows yellow spot on the right side, the more phone is hot, the more sharp it is,
Also it is more visible on white page than dark one.
Can anyone help me ....
Thank you.
Anyone can help !!!!!!
I have a yellow stripe on the left side of the screen, especially on white backgrounds too. It's visually similar to old crt monitors that would burn in. It appeared only recently (last month, when my device is 6 months old), and I'm assuming it is just bad quality screen... No idea how to get rid of it.
Same yellow line left side about 25mm long and 4mm width.
I thought it happened after I flashed some Rom, with thermal bugged kernel.

Exactly as you described! But I've only been on stock rom, so I think rom is unrelated.
Same here, yellow spot on bottom left corner, I think that the problem is related to the glue under the glass. Someone should try to put the display under a UV lamp for some minutes
just out of curiosity.... does it look similar to this picture?

Wow, thanks for that pic darkmage1991. I saw a faint yellow line on mine in the exact same place as yours. Mine is really faint but I thought I saw something there a couple days ago then noticed it more now. I guess I'll have to watch mine and once it gets worse file a claim, what a bummer. My phone is all stock too so it's not a software issue.

its been truly bad like that for a week or so, but just now just bit the bullet and filed the RMA, but i gotta say i kinda feel like the area behind that part of the screen felt warmer, maybe someone else could verify that by opening up a demanding app like a game and seeing if that spot on the device gets warmer than the rest(maybe thats where the cpu or heat spreader is located?)
i first chatted with support about it to make sure it was covered cause just like any other device dead pixels are not covered under warranty and i wanted to make sure they didnt classify this as a dead pixel problem(even though i knew its not related they still may classify it under the same argument)
i sent the asus rep the picture of the screen and they said it was covered and made the RMA for me.
i will update the thread when i hear back from them or get my phone back, just so the info is out there if asus fixes it.
Same issue here, my screen had a very faint yellow spot on the top right corner. I also noticed that back part of the screen tends to get hot quickly. Right now the spot is almost invisible, so I think I should wait a couple of days before calling for a RMA.
figured i would update with my experience. i received my phone back on tuesday from being repaired for this same issue. they replaced it under warranty no questions asked and the phone looks brand new now. but the repair process did take 2 weeks though. from the time i sent it off to the time i had it back in my hands. so i would say there turnaround is about 6-7 days+3 days shipping back to you.
Great help

Phone back from repair - not happy

Hey all,
I've sent my phone to HTC to repair an issue with the screen not recognising touch inputs in the upper part of the screen.
I received my phone yesterday - and the issue got fixed.
However, I noticed that the left side of the screen is not sticking properly to the phone. I can stick my fingernail under the screen, and when I press on it, I can hear the adhesive trying to stick, but the screen just bounces back off. There's a bit of light bleeding out the side as well.
I tried heating up the side with a hair dryer, and then press on it with a heavy object for about an hr - it was fine for a while, but peeled off again.

I talked to HTC Support again, and I got a repair ticket opened - so I can send it back for another repair - but this means another week (at least) with no phone and I don't really want that.
My question is, is there a way for me to fix this on my own? I Googled for ideas, but not sure how to proceed. I noticed mentions about 3m double sided sticky tape, but afaik that invovles taking the whole screen off and re-applying the tape - don't want that.
I saw this UV glue (LOCA), but I noticed it's being used on the actually screen, not the sides. Will a few drops of this glue in the side of the phone be able to hold it down? Will I void the warranty if I do this?
Thanks in advance.
You will need double sided adhsevive and not loca but in order to apply it properly the screen must come off. I suggest sending it back again and let them take the responsibility.

I wouldn't even attempt to repair that. You could probably do it with epoxy or double-sided tape but it's just so intricate. You never know HTC might send you a new phone.

Never do it yourself - it is the job of HTC to fix your phone. I only repair my phone if there is no warranty left.
A great reason to send it back again, and this time demand a new device. There is no reason for service centers to behave like this, it's highly unprofessional and even the job itself is not done.
Just a quick update on the matter.
So, I decided to send it back and asked for a replacement - the HTC support guy told me he requested a replacement.
Got the phone back this week, aaaaaand it was the same phone (got a skin on it so I know for sure). That was not the problem, really, as long as the issue was solved. At first, I thought it was, but after using the phone for a bit, I noticed that now both sides of the screen are protruding. As soon as the device get a bit worm, I can see light coming out from the sides, and I can stick my fingernail underneath both sides now and lift the screen a bit.
I talked to HTC again, and they told me to send it back again and that they escalated the replacement request and bla bla...
I also attached a transcript of the conversation with them as well as a letter explaining the issue and demanding a replacement...not sure what effect these woul d have.
I feel that the repair centre never checks tickets details or things like that...I hope I'll get a proper result now.

Out of curiosity, where are you located? I sent mine to the Texas repair center for a screen issue and the repair was extremely quick and the new screen seems flawless and even better than before.
i may be wrong here as ive had this issue as well as others with htc on previous model phones , they attempt repair x3 times if unsuccessful they then replace with new device.
Shambolic customer service. No doubt you'll get it sorted eventually but this sort of negligence does HTC no favours at all. I'm in London too and maybe they're not as well set up to deal with this stuff here as they are in the states.

yea - London here. They use Regenersis here, based in Huntingdon. Not impressed with them.
The phone arrived there yesterday. I will prob get an update sometime next week and, hopefully, get a replacement.
Will post an update once I get something.
oh well....here we are....2 months later....I finally got a replacement phone.
Took a long time, but I finally got the phone back.
Oh no, not what i want to hear. they have my phone at the moment to "fix" the 4g issues, that is basically crap software update so quite what htey are going to do who knows. but they said to send it in reguardless..
