How many of you had pre-ordered the device and how many are actually going to buy it? Were you expecting more? Let's start off the discussions.

I had preordered it but not at all impressed with specs... Although I have not cancelled yet I may soon do so.

I have cancelled the pre-order.....the specs are same as CanvasHD except for the Camera
They should play to their strength ... hardware and pricing...the biggest disappointment was RAM and battery
Canvas 4 did not have any WOW factor for me.

Rooted the device using this method, worked...

Canvas3 recovery won't work???
Since all the hardware is same except the internal memory, i was wondering if the recovery for canvas3 will work for this?

Nope, stuff like recovery for one device will work only on that device (and its clones). Don't try it otherwise your stock recovery will also vanish. :silly:

POMP C6S 5.5" NFC/Octa-Core 1.7GHz MTK6592 2GB RAM/32GB ROM DualSIM / 1920x1080 FHD
Topic is about the new POMP C6S 5.5" NFC/Octa-Core 1.7GHz MTK6592 2GB RAM/32GB ROM DualSIM / 1920x1080 FHD.
Let us collect all hacking & development info here about this device, and help each other.
First impressions
This is a really HIGH QUALITY phone from China.
What I like about it? I like the simple square design, and the screen is big and clear, when off the screen is 100% black (not grey). Also the phone is pretty thin. Another great plus is the high build quality and that it has REAL features like NFC, OTG, MHL/HDMI, WIFI DIRECT/Miracast and 2GB RAM/32GB ROM!
Pros: The phone is very fast! 28800 in AnTuTu says it all. High build quality and very good materials. The screen is also of a very high quality, and the fact that the whole screen is totally black when off is something I really like. The batterylife is very good, it seems to be a true 3000 mah battery in this device. The phone has a dedicated hardware button for the camera. The SIMtray is a dualsimtray for 2 micro SIM cards. The reception/signal is strong in this device, so far I had no problems when talking with people. The sound/backspeaker and headphone quality is also very good and loud. The phone support real OTA, OTG, MHL, Miracast, Airgestures in both ways and NFC which is real nice features.
Cons: The UI is not everyones taste - but you can just install another launcher! No notification LED as far I can see.
The lockscreen is pretty standard. The backcover can not be removed, also the builtin memory can't be extended, but it comes with total 32GB ROM. The price for this phone is a bit high, but on the other hand, you get a phone with high quality! For some people this phone may be too big, it has a 5.5 inch screen.
Benchmarks
AnTuTu score is: 28822

Hey, you can see how it work here in my video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws8_aZ2Gsg4
it is basically the same for the Pomp C6S (and all other MTK6592) as for the phone I use in that video.
You just need a TV with miracast builtin, or an external miracast dongle connected to it. Then on the phone you go in the settings and connect it. You don't need any extra software etc.
The POMP also support cable, MHL to HDMI, so you can connect via cable also to a TV.
Thank you i will try

Hi thanks, I have 2.02 it seems. So 2.03 have how many languages? Do I just put C6Spomp_92_cn_fhd_en_fomat_v2.03_kashua.zip on the sdcard in the root? and then choose update from locale file in the settings? or just with Spflashtool?
How did you root your C6S?
Any other changes in 2.03? And do I have to clear any caches or factory reset afterwards? Where did you get 2.03 from? (sorry for all the questions )

Bugs/Cons:
In stocklauncher with stock firmware you can not add widgets. But you can install another launcher, then it will work fine.
This is soon going to be fixed in a future update according to the manufacture.
No backlight in the touchbuttons.
Device will get a little hot around the camera area on the back, when running 3D games.
Camera could be better, but it is generally ok for the price!

Hi,
Great start of new topic/model, and nice links to possible fixes.
I just received my Elephone P2000 and after a few days I am still in doubt about it.
It is a lot of phone for little money, but looking at the specs I had my expectations set a bit higher.
Okay, maybe I am a bit prejudiced as I use this phone to replace my iPhone 5s
I ran into the same issue with adding Widgets, so I am glad there is a fix. Thanks for that !
The main problem I am still facing (and on bbs.elephone.hk I read that I am not the only one) is the Wifi connection. It keeps dropping at random. This makes the phone utterly useless for me since push mail, whatsapp, newsflash, etc are simply unreliable
I think the 720p screen is not as bad as some reviewers state. Even for a big 5.5" screen it is quite okay. Still in doubt if 5.5" is the right size for me
The camera however is a real disappointment, 13MP but grainy and unfocused.
Battery runs out quite fast. Even without WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS I managed to run out within 4 hours of fiddling around.
Although memory seems plenty, I ran out of memory quite rapidly when installing software, and found that adding a microSD card and using APP2SD solved my problem.
It took me a while to figure out how to place the 2 SIM cards (1 regular and one micro) and the microSD memory card, but once I managed to fit them this really works fantastic.
I hope Elephone will come up with more software updates since this could really be a nice phone for a nice price, and 5.5" is really in the demand at the moment.
Keep up the good work with adding updates and user experiences! Thanks !
Thanks for your feedback! I agree that the phone can not be compared to a iPhone 5. But also remember the huge price difference!
You also cant compare a Porsche with an Audi, both fine cars, but they are not the same class and cost different.
Regarding the WiFi, it is strange, because I have not experienced any problems with the WiFi on mine. It always works stable. But I agree that the camera could have been much better, its not super good. Just ok for fun pictures I would say.
Battery in standby mode is good for me, several days, but when I use it, only max 1 day. But try to disable GPS and Googles location service, it uses a lot of extra battery! And if it doesn't help, turn the brightness of the screen 10% down.

Hi,
I used VRoot 1.73 from vrootdownload.org and mgyun.com/en/GetVRoot since this was supposed to be in English. The newer 1.7.8 seems to be available only in Chinese, and my Chinese is quite limited
Installation is quite easy (start the setup on your Windows machine/virtual-machine and do not choose all the extra software and browser add-ons, start the VRoot program, hook up the phone to your system, press ROOT...and wait..phone reboots and windows software states 'rooted'). After installation I found 2 Icons with chinese text on the phone, 1 containing (chinese) advertisements and links to other software from the developer mgyun, and one supposedly something to do with the rooting/super-user proces (also most text and choices in chinese). The rooting proces is quite simple...and appears successful (apps requiring root access do start).
However, chinese pop-ups keep coming up when a proces requires root/superuser access and I have no clue what choices to make.
This made me decide to 'unroot' and remove the software. The chinese advertisement link remains on the phone, but this can easily be uninstalled.

I completely agree that this phone is in another league and cannot be compared to iPhone. The price is incredible for this phone, plus the huge 5,5" inch screen (bigger screens seem to be the current 'fashion'), dual sim, and the fantastic specs made me buy it. Without looking at the specs (octacore, memory, fingerprint, ips, etc) I would have been amazed...simply because of its price and neat design.
I have seemed to narrow the WiFi problem down to problems with DHCP. When I assign a fixed address the phone disconnects (according to wifi fixer) and reconnects, but when using dhcp things appear to go wrong. At home of course I can assign a fixed address, but at work and public places this is no option. There seem to be multiple users on the elephone forum that experience similar wifi problems, so I hope there will be a fix.
Interesting to see if there will be a stable and supported version of MIUI rom for the P2000, did you try the beta ?
Thanks!

Just flash this ROM with Spflashtool from needrom http://www.needrom.com/mobile/elephone-p2000-3/
After that you will have ROOT, not with vROOT but with normal SuperSU (not in Chinese). Also this ROM fixes the widgets and gives you wake gestures, so you can for example draw a C when the screen is off and it starts the Camera, or you just double tap to wake the screen.
I did not try the MIUI beta, because some features still don't work.
tnx

That ROM is clean, it is from Elephone and also the only ROM that fixes the widgets. Framaroot cant root this phone. If you want to root your old ROM manually you can only do it with the "read back method" and MTK droidtools plus Sp flash tool.
Read back root tutorial here by ITXtutor (but it is more complicated)

ok
mhmm...ok i think that i try needrom's rom xD hahaahahaha
so..i read this in rom description:
I do NOT recommend to flash the "Preloader" so please untick that part in SP Flash Tools before you flash!
(You can flash it anyway without the Preloader, then it will just keep your original on the phone).
ALWAYS have a working backup of your original ROM before you flash a new unknown ROM.

Just untick the Preloader in Spflash tool after you loaded the scatter file and before you then flash, so you flash everything but the Preloader. Its safer to keep the original Preloader intact on the phone.

No, there is no problem that you don't flash the Preloader. The Preloader is the same, both ROMs are 4.4.2 Kitkat, only change is that the new ROM has fixed widgets and some extra features. Even IF there should be a problem, you could always flash the preloader afterwards again. But it is recommended never to flash the Preloader, better just leave the original on the phone. But if you want you can also just try to flash it, should be okay. But its not necessary.
On older devices, flashing the Preloader could brick them (in the told days) therefore it is not recommended. And you don't need to flash the Preloader when you flash new ROM, so why run the risk?

No the ROM don't change your camera or speed. Its the same as you current ROM, just with some fixes. If your not satisfied with the ROM then just flash the old ROM back again. The stock normal ROM can also be found on needrom.com

SuperSU can give problems with this ROM and some applications that can be resolved by replacing SuperSU by Superuser from ClockworkMod.
I had problems with Titanium Backup and those were solved by the change above.
Which USB drivers P2000 and Win 8.1 64bit?
Can anyone tell me which usb drivers to use for Elephone P2000 in Win 8.1 64bit.

Android or MIUI
Hi,
I followed your instructions and was able to flash the P2000. Thanks for the instructions and the link to the ROM
When starting I noticed that the icons look quite different from the default Android icons, they look much more like the MIUI icons. Is the ROM from your first post really a factory ROM provided by Elephone ??
The new ROM btw still has many of the original problems (WiFi and memory plus power management) but at least the widgets can be added and SuperUser works, so I am quite happy with it.
Thanks

No system update
I just flashed Android Revolution HD 31.0 ROM on Samsung Galaxy Note II. I noticed that there is no system update/software update option. Is that normal?
Bad signal after install new Rom
After reading a lot about how to install a new Rom i finally did it and installed the Revolution HD 31.0 on my Samsung Note 2.
Everything went well and the gsm started properly.
But i have some problems with the network signal which i think is worse than before the update.
And this summer i was on holiday in Greece, i had no signal at all. So i couldn't use my phone for a call or sms.
Another problem is that i find my phone a little slow sometimes.
When i start a app, i looks like it hangs for 2 or 3 seconds before the app starts. This is not always.
What should i do ? Reinstall the Rom ? Install latest bootloader ?
Thanks.
On AHD 31, there is Samsung Appstore and all Samsung app bundle like (Samsung Note, Samsung Video Editor, Photo Editor....) is missing. Also the battery icon on notification bar is quite smaller than the other icon, and the space between wifi icon and mobile signal icon is quite big.

wi-fi does not work
i am sure someone had similar problem and someone else answered but i dont understand those abbreviations , please bear with me
i had rooted 4.1.2 stock and it was laggy lately
so i installed cwm and flashed revolution rom 31.0
it installed correctly but wi-fi does not work
i see there is a mention of this and a fix . (by the way i have the latest bootloader, i checked, the one with n something. )
at developer post it says flash this no detail. how to flash. After some reading i assume i have to flash this with odin , not cwm.
i downloaded odin and the fix but now i dont know which line in odin i should choose the file ( bootloader, pda, phone csc..)
can you help please , i am on download mode, odin open and waiting for a response.
No wonder this ROM is the best. Thankyou so much for the stability!
f2fs
Hey, i ve been trying to convert my system, data, cache from ext4 to f2fs an I did not find any complete guide. Maybe it ill help someone. I ve done it with latest TWRP (2.8.3.0)
Next 2 steps do only If you want a clean start:
1. wipe all partitions, instal ARHD (while the partitions are still formated as ext4) and reboot !
2. reboot back to recovery and flash desired kernel with f2fs support (in my case i flashed Agni kernel v4.3.3_R3)
ARHD's default kernel doesnt support f2fs, so if you wont flash kernel with f2fs support, you will end up with bootloop
!!! make sure you flash a kernel with f2fs support !!!
4. backup your device to your external sd-card or else your data will be probably deleted.
5. In recovery go to Wipe-> Advanced Wipe -> select "Cache" and select "Repair or Change File System", click Change File System-> F2FS.
6. Repeat last step for "System" and "Data" (depends on you which partitions you want to convert)
7. Go to Settings->"Use rm -rf instead of formatting" or esle restore proces will reformat to ext4
8. Restore all backed up partitions, reboot and you are good to go.

Other flashing methods
Hi, I'm new to android world and specially custom ROMs. I was trying to update my galaxy note 2 to the latest version provided by Samsung but for some reason the OTA update couldn't be done. So after some googling I found this ROM which is exactly what I want. The original functionality with extra features and performance optimizations. Now I decided to install this ROM but I wanted to know if I can flash with adb tool or not.
That's because I don't have a SD card and I cannot use "install zip from sdcard" because after wiping the zip will be deleted. I have already installed ClockworkMod recovery, and once installed a CyanogenMod ROM with sideload command (using adb). Can I use this process instead of the provided steps in the first post ?
Thanks,
Ashkan

Well, from my experience and usage I can tell you that this is indeed the most stable rom for me
I've been using custom roms on my note 2 for about year and a half, and I somehow always return to this one
As for battery life, I'd say it's a bit above all roms for me. It was 30-45 minutes more than I was getting on DN4. Flash it and see for yourself, I think you won't regret it ^^

Expected battery life improvement?
Hi Mike,
Finally got fed up with the stock rom and rooted my note 2. Was able to remove a few unneeded apps. So far my battery now lasts 7 hours with moderate use. Up from 5.5-6hours.
I'm installing your
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (N7100)
KitKat (Android 4.4.2)
Download Android Revolution HD 31.0
After installing, will I still need "power savings" apps such as Go Power Master Pro and Greenify?
Will I expect an increase in battery life? If so, by how much more?
Djackal
After few weeks using the ROM, everything is fine. But yesterday suddenly stuck and now it became like this already:

Unfortunately I have not found a way to root it yet.
it is possible to root:
i found it in the official forum bbs.elephone.hk
to root the stock rom lollipop 5.0 you need SP-Flash Tool and the CWM Recovery for lollipop, you can find it all on needrom.com
just unpack, flash the recovery.img with SPFT, put BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip on telefon or sdcard, go to recovery and flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip
or you can make a downgrade to kitkat 4.4.4 because the stock 5.0 is very buggy. The Kitkat Rom you can find also on needrom.com is already rooted.

Hi,
Just receive my G2 yesterday and experience really hot operating temperature (upper left corner). I was thinking about downgrading to Kitkat as I am currently on Lollipop. Apparently I shall have the latest firmware (build Elephone_G2_20150424). @ s7yler have akso experience this warm/hot operation phenomena ?

I spent hours failing to flash the recovery and getting nonsensical error messages ('Perhaps the phone has powered up too quickly"), before realizing that I did not have the latest version of SPFT. Older versions will not work with the MTK6732M. Everything went smoothly once I used SPFT v5.1516.00; later versions will also work, of course.
(a) Unzip the custom recovery you get from needrom.com or elsewhere
(b) Install MTK-SP drivers
(c) Run SPFT and select the scatter file in the unzipped recovery package
(d) Press download with the phone NOT connected to the PC
(e) Then connect the phone via USB with battery removed
See this link for more details
The above steps will flash the recovery. you can also flash a new ROM (e.g. CWM if it is ever released) in the same way.
For the next step (flashing SuperSU to root) you do not need a PC; do it through the recovery. (To boot into recovery, hold the VolUp and Power buttons down at the same time until the phone vibrates breifly.) Also it is not necessary to flash the beta version of SuperSU; the stable version (currently 2.46) will work fine. Just to state the obvious, installing SuperSu from Play won't root the phone.

I own this device. Actually it isn't really a great deal. Personally wouldn't recommend. Totally waste of money. Despite official promises phone received no updates or any other ROMs are available. Overheating and poor performance on official lollipop so far. Housing is covered with cheap glossy paint which can be easily damaged. Screen quality does not satisfy at all. It has edgy picture and poor, step-switch backlit. On screen buttons have no backlit at all. And serious battery calibration issues, phone doesn't display real data at all and doesn't last long.
Already ordered (the last!!) G9, sounds bad..

Issues so far: (stock lollipop)
screen brightness fixed (will post zip later)
battery life fixed by decreasing CPU frequency and disabling unnecessary network bands
overheating fixed by decreasing CPU frequency
dialer call limit exceeded problem fixed (will post zip later)
headphones audio left-right balance fixed (will post zip later or you can use any equalizer)
After I fixed, overheating and battery issues device is not that bad after all. If you have problems with installing software from PlayStore gets the gapps from here. The overheating problem is due to processor being throttled up to 1287 MHz by default. Get root version of SetCPU and set governor to userspace 468-468 cfq. Add profile for Screen off event 702-468 userspace. Also disable unnecessary bands in engineering menu for better battery life. All of the above is for stock 5.0. Have not tried device on stock KK, but according to user reviews on Russian forums performance is great. I am using the phone as my main device on custom lollipop MIUI V7 5.10.2 by rediska32 from 4PDA forums. After investing some to fix issues I am pretty satisfied with G2, considering the price. Device easily holds up to 64GB sd (have not tried more). My screen brightness is usually around 40-60% and battery hold up to 2 days of moderate using. Forget the camera btw. PM me if you have any questions, I will post available fixes and ROMs for G2 here.
Hello. I've got Elephone G2 Android 5.0 which have a bug with switching MAC-adress after every restart. Found this instruction (from official elephone forum), but the stock ROM (also official one) doesn't contain MD1_DB and AP_DB files. Also I found MD1_DB file in my phone, but I have no idea where can I found the second one. What am I doing wrong?
You probably damaged your NVRAM

Here is backup of stock NVRAM with fix for MAC and NVRAM Warning err 0x10. Try replacing wifi and wifi_custom files in nvram\APCFG\APRDEB only. If this does not help re-flash stock and do it again. If you loose your NVRAM you can use this backup to restore it. Just edit the imei and mac. And always backup before doing anything to your device. Hope this helps.

How about thé G9..?

I NEED Redmi Note 8 Pro firmware v11.0.7.0 PGGMIXM Can Anyone Help?

My Phone is UK version 6gb 128GB
MIUI version: MIUI Global | Stable 11.0.7.0 (PGGMIXM)
Android Version: 9 PPR1.180610.011
Security Patch: 2020-04-01
Did anyone get a backup of the above Android 9 firmware version before the upgrade to 10 came out.
The above version supports the new front camera shipped on newer devices.
If anyone was smart enough to make a backup please upload it some place. :fingers-crossed:
I was dumb on this occasion & never got a backup.

I have begonia_global_images_V11.0.6.0.PGGMIXM_20200108.0000.00_9.0_global.tgz (fastboot image), if you want it. Reply and I'll upload it somewhere.
Thanks for the offer but it has to be the v11.0.7.0. Sadly.
I have the v11.0.6.0 but as explained the front camera is not supported on newer built hardware using this firmware version. Basically mi changed the front camera and maybe other hardware on these devices. They unified the kernels in the latest 10 update but 9 is still fragmented.

The v11.0.7.0. is an OTA recovery update, did you try to get it through updates?
No OTA's for me except the latest Android 10 update. This 11.0.7 firmware is not available any place and I have searched every official source. Since mi didn't do an official release of this firmware for the begonia I think it's the on device shipped firmware so someone would of needed to make a backup. I never gave it a second thought thinking everything would be Equal but it seems not. :crying:
OK then maybe @bigrammy could try the next update to see what happens, no need to update but only to download the package and share it here.
I also searched and nothing.
Maybe you could try with this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-2/how-to/guide-reverse-engineering-xiaomi-ota-t3691612 I used to use similar method to catch some early updates on Samsung devices although is pretty probable that Xiaomi dropped this release for some reason.

Thanks but the only OTA I ever get is Android 10 even if I flash the the 11.0.6 firmware. I am well used to all this stuff rolling back and forth and capturing updates etc etc on many devices like Sonys, Nokia, etc but sadly nothing arrived for this v11.0.7.
I guess I will need to wait till someone does a backup of the shipped Android 9 firmware of these newer devices. :fingers-crossed:
@bigrammy
So...you need someone with new camera hardware and correct Android 9 version. Will TWRP backup be enough to get cam drivers?

That would be the dream my friend so if you have a TWRP backup of that firmware that would be totally awesome
I still kick myself now for NOT backing up my stock Android 9 first a total epic fail on my part.

Indeed. I didn't expect that Xiaomi changed front camera sensor. MIUI has terrible RAM management, so custom ROM is the only reasonable option.
To be honest I don't have TWRP backup, but I thought of buying a second N8 Pro, unlock it, take a TWRP backup and then return it to shop (with relocked bootloader of course).
If it helps the devs - why not?

OK I see. Well I wouldn't worry about it too much because without the camera driver kernel source there is not much can be done really.
The main reason for wanting the Android 9 stock ROM is I had hoped to try some experimentation using the Stock "kernel" which is fully compatible with the Engineering lk and preloader (Can Use SPFlashTool) .
I would not risk buying another one of these phones again until the official source code is updated with the New front camera driver until then we're kind of stuck.
I keep a close eye on any updates for this device and or any other Xiaomi MTK devices that could use this camera in the future.

They are used in Redmi K30 Ultra which is MTK SoC also so merging the selfie camera drivers into the (begonia) RN8P should be doable.
I am not 100% sure if they would be compatible or if they still rely on (need) the base S5K3T2_MIPI_RAW driver.
Comms with the main dev's is pretty poor and it seems like a bit of a closed club so I can't really ask any meaningful questions. I can only suggest and point and hope they pick it up and use it if it's workable.
I raised an issue on github some time ago but never got any reply just a bunch of commits that seemed unrelated to the camera. https://github.com/AgentFabulous/begonia/issues/1
We could do with a commited XDA kernel dev who is happy to use this forum platform rather than "social media like telegram, twitter, facebook sort of nonsense" which is not my idea of sharing and Learning.
Following anything on those platforms is near impossible for me as everything is a bunch of fragmented one liners
Maybe it's a age thing IDK (It means I Dont Know seemingly )
@bigrammy
I recieved new Note 8 Pro and - guess what - production date is July 2020.

Yes that's the EU firmware for the Newer Camera like mine. If you could make a backup that would cool
I have it. how to backup the rom?
@kinder_surprise
First - you have to unlock bootloader and then install non CFW TWRP Recovery

As @wojownikhaha as said the first step is to unlock the bootloader following the official way which is a long drawn out process sadly.
Once you have unlocked the bootloader you need to flash the engineering preloader and LK from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-info-psa-redmi-note-8-pro-megathread-cfw.4056527/
Personally I would then just use SPFlashTool to do a "Read Back" of the device as I am not 100% sure if TWRP would boot without a modified boot.img installed which would require overwriting OUR stock boot.img with a boot.img from the other devices without these newer cameras if that makes sense
Put simply we need a copy of our device boot.img.
If TWRP is allowed to boot without any mods to the boot.img then fine simply make a TWRP backup.
Otherwise SPFlashTool is needed to do a backup of our stock partitions.
Let me know what level your at with all this stuff so we can better guide you if required.
Thanks bigrammy

I confirm - this is possible. I was able to boot to recovery just after installation (on first Note with 11.0.7.0)
Anyway, I will provide full TWRP backup of stock 11.0.5.0 on next Thursday.

Hi Thanks for the confirmation that it is possible to boot TWRP without the need to flash a modified boot.img first.
Looking forward to the EU 11.0.5.0 firmware

This info will make things much easier
