Just like the M7 and the DNA. Hold down volume and power for 10 seconds or so.

I think just power needs to be held down, don't need both meest

Just power doesn't work. Tried that yesterday when I got stuck in a bootloop. Has to be power+vol.

My mistake :/ That's weird on my original one it was just power. Thanks

If you try just holding power for 10 seconds, it prompts you to use vol up + power lol. How I found out

[Q] Phone don't even turn on

Hi everyone !
Yesterday I was using my phone, and after a few minutes without using it, when I tried to wake it up, nothing happened ! The screen stays black all the time, and the charging LED light doesn't turn on too.
I don't understand, nothing happened to the phone (no fall or anything). And now it just seems ... dead !!!
Could someone help me ?
Thanks !
The phone is rooted with S-Off and a custom ROM ...
If you pull out the battery and place it back does it boot then?
Try pulling the battery and then replace it while holding both volume buttons and the power button.

If pulling the battery doesn't do it, it's probably really dead. I also once had a dead Desire, stopped working from one moment to the other. If there's warranty left, send it in.

That's what i was thinking muellersmattes. The warranty is over since a few months
Your phone is dead.
That happened to my first desire hd. I had to take it in to vodafone for them to send off for repair :-(
Question : when you do take in for repair can they tell if you rooted it ?

Yeah clearly I think my phone is dead. I'll try to repair it and sell it.
Anyway, I bought a Galaxy S I9000, I hope it will last a bit longer !
I had two problems with my DHD. But to keep history short, I'll tell only the second:
My seemed bricked. It didn't power on and when I plugged the charger, the LED didn't turn on.
As I work with electronics, I measured the phone's battery and it had 0.0V. So, I took an adjustable power supply and charged the battery for 2 minutes with 3.7V.
I put the battery back in the phone, plugged the charger and the LED turned orange!
Perhaps you could try the same procedure...
And tomorrow I'll try to fix the 1st problem.

[Q] Broken Volume+ Button: Is Hope Lost for Tacoroot?

My Droid Incredible 2's volume up button is stuck... I suppose this is a 2-part question:
1. Is it possible to get an exchange with Verizon? Or is there a way I can fix it myself? I got it looked at and they said it's stuck to the motherboard. Anyone with a similar experience?
2. I've been attempting to gain S-OFF and been looking into using tacoroot. But that requires that I reboot from recovery using VolUP + VolDOWN + Power buttons. Is it possible to workaround that with a broken volume button?
Thank you!

The only way you will get an exchange from Verizon is if your phone is still under warranty. I don't know the answer to the second part

Thanks bc13! Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but how do I find out if the phone is still under warranty? How long do warranties last after the date of purchase?

Verizon has a one year warranty for your phone after that they won't cover anything. If you have phone insurance you could do a claim on it.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I'm not trying to boot into bootloader. In the Tacoroot procedure from prototype7, there's a step that goes like this:
adb shell /data/local/tacoroot.sh --setup
This will reboot your phone. When you get to a screen with a red exclamation mark, press VolUp+Power until you get to a menu, then press VolUp+VolDown+Power until the phone turns off. Once it is rebooted, continue.
ooh, uh. try fixing the button is all i can say

Yes, but it requires you to hold the power up button + power down button so you won't be able too....jk Mods would have to close it.

Phone shuts off after about 10 seconds, can't restore

I am not new to rooting, but I have a pretty serious problem it seems. No matter what mode I boot into (download, recovery, OS), the phone just shuts off after about 10 seconds. Obviously this makes restoring anything impossible.
This is my brothers phone, and at first I thought it might be the battery, so I tried mine (i have the same phone), but it does the same thing. Also does it if plugged in. The phone is rooted, on a recent CM10.1.2 build, but this just happened out of the blue, not after a flash or anything.
Any ideas? Or is the phone toast?
Could it be the power button getting stuck down? A Few others have had that happen.

I'm not 100% sure that's what it was, but slamming in on the table a few times seemed to fix it (at least temporarily). Also, it was turning itself on after a battery pull and reinsert, so that makes a lot of sense.
Thanks a ton for your help!
Lol! I've fixed VCRs, CD players and all sorts of things with that method! Glad it worked for you!

I have the same exact problem for my galaxy s3. I opened up mine and took the button out and it is still doing the 10 second shutdown. I think it's the power switch on the motherboard. Does that sound correct anyone ?????

Could be...
I think s good test for this is to remove/replace the battery and if it turns on on its own after putting the battery back in, its likely a power button related issue.

Try this: plug in the phone, hold power and volume up and down for anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes and see if that works. When I got my One it was completely dead, no charge light, nothing. I was all set to return it when I found this solution in a help discussion thread. Took mine about 2 and a half minutes but it turned on.

I tried it with both volume up and down and still nothing?? Do you know if its common for things like this to happen or other problems occurring when a system reboot on twrp is done?
Did you do all three at the same time? That and the amount of time that you keep them pressed is the key here. Supposedly it resets the battery. No idea about the TWRP angle.

Yea i just tried both of em at the same time still nothing, ill keep trying though. And also im awake that rooting a phone voids the warranty but if im not able to even turn on the phone my provider most likely cannot either so do you think I could go get a new one if this problem persists??
If you're going to take it into a store, I'd think you're chances are pretty good that they'll give you a new one. Provided ,of course, that it's within whatever the return period is.

"Both" generally implies 2. Did you press all *3* buttons at the same time for at least 5 minutes? Power, volume up, and volume down?

phone wont charge or turn on.
Hi,
I am having the same problem with my new HTC ONE. The phone ran out of battery so died, but wouldn't charge again - the charge light didnt come on, and so it won't turn on anymore. I didn't use twrp.
However I sent it to HTC Repair as they said it can be fixed under warranty and they sent it back to me in 10 days but it still didn't work. So I called up and they said send it to them again and now they said its a damage not under warranty. So they want £264 for repair! or £26 to return it. What should I do?
Is there any chance they'll fix it for free or shall I just pay £26 and try get it fixed elsewhere? I read online about how awful the customer service for the repair centre is but now its too late, they may have already purposely damaged my phone :'( I am so sad

stupid question but did you try another charger?
otherwise its a battery gone dead or a motherboard issue, and if its a motherboard issue you will get a free replacement if your guarrantee is still running if it is a battery issue and your phone is older then 6 months you won't get squat
