[REQUEST] Why aren't there more cases like this one for the Z3 for more phones? - Xperia Z3 Compact Accessories

http://www.roxfitstore.co.uk/collections/xperia-z3/products/xperia-z3-book-case-touch
I think we'll be seeing a lot more like this. Haven't seen other brands do anything similar. Screen is still touch sensitive through the clear part of the case.
Super want this for teh Z3c

Looks cool. But how exactly does it close? Does it use some kind of magnet or?

It doesn't use a magnet. It has a rubberized inner lining so the front flap won't slide when the phone is in your pocket. Mine doesn't close completely when the phone is placed flat on a table.
The lining also holds the phone in place when the case is used as a stand in landscape mode.

If your curious as to how the Clear-Coat body skin fits on the Motorola Atrix, Gadget University did a quick review for you all!

Thanks
wow that skin looks amazing...im actually in the market for something of this nature right. thanks for the informative review
Looks really nice, but no protection to speak of.
Looks nice, but doesn't seem practical!

Actually it provides quite a bit a protection. I've dropped my phone before and its been fine. Not as much as case protection, but, not as bulky either...

Its very practical. I've had a similar skin on my phone for a few months now and the best part is you can STILL use a case on top of it if you so choose. That way no dirt particles can get into your case and scratch your phone...
I don't know what kind of protection people are looking for?
I have had invisible shield as well as clear coat... and I stuck with clear coat for my Atrix because your finger will slide much more smoothly across the surface of the phone. Pinch to zoom would always be tedious with the invisible shield.
The only protection this offers is scratch protection. If you need something that's shock absorbent, then a case is probably the way to go.
The best way to prevent an accident from happening is to be abstinent in the first place though
Sorry for bumping a dead thread, but i just ordered this skin from Amazon.com and have a question about it, and didn't want to make a new thread about it.
is there anything preventing me from using this screen protector, AND my hard Speck case? i want the most protection possible without making my phone too bulky, and this seemed like a good idea to me. i don't see why i couldn't, but would just like some clarification. i still have time to cancel my order, after all.

There are a couple references to doing that in the posts above yours.

I would love a case like the IPAD smart cover for the NOTE

Anyone seen anything like that?

the cases with the stands arent available yet.
but the next best thing is the samsung flip cover. it replaces the back cover of the galaxy but adds a leather cover for the screen.

I got one of those it came free with my phone. It does look very good but i gotta say it offers no real protection. It doesnt cover the metal sides and the fact that it cant be 'locked' onto the screen means theres a good chance it will flip open if you drop ur phone and the screen can still be damaged. It makes taking photos extremely inconvenient too.
I now have 2 of those flip covers sitting on my desk gathering dust, the other one came free with my gf's white note.
This is sort of like an ipad cover/stand thingy
ebay item: 250935866665
Not enough posts to put a link in...
really expensive
That wouldn't even work. The magnets and sensors in the iPad are what lets the awesomeness happen. The Note doesn't have either

Well, neither would an iPad2-style smart cover, which is what the OP was asking about!
For me, the flip case is perfect because what I want a case for is simple to protect the screen when I put the phone in my pocket. Impact protection is doesn't figure into my personal requirements because I consider the additional bulk to be an unacceptable trade off for the protection that it would offer in the very rare event that I drop the device. YMMV of course!
The thing I like about the flip cover, other than the fact that it adds almost no bulk to the device, is that I find myself holding the Note one handed much like I would a paper back book, with my thumb on the inside of the cover, 3 fingers behind the device and cover, and my little finger resting on the edge of the bottom of the note.
I also find the cover a great stabiliser when taking photos in landscape as I flip the cover down and use it as part of my "grip". It works to a lesser degree in portrait too, though to start with it does feel a little more cumbersome.
Regards,
Dave
Absolutely, I love how the flip actually makes the Note a lot easier to hold safely. I'm actually happy to have it out while walking around, whereas I've been afraid I'd drop it on the pavement without the flip. I'd pay good money for an app that would switch it on and off when the proximity/light sensors see the case open or close, that would be great...
victorlht88 said:
not true. i am sure its possible for developers to use the light/proximity sensor to lock/unlock the phone or maybe using some app.

This really works but specially the locking option. if i close the flip cover it actually turn off.
wish it would be the same on how unlocking it with just opening the flip cover.
very nice findings

Yes but what if your hand drifts over the prox sensor? sounds annoying...

Budget metal bumper

I'm on a REALLY tight budget, and I've found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminum-Bu...VG/ref=sr_1_67?ie=UTF8&qid=1352551327&sr=8-67
Has somebody tried it before? Do the cover-buttons have a good response (is much more force needed to make them "click")? Any suggestions?
while it might provide a unique look to your phone, i'm not sure how much 'protection' a metal bumper will give.
once that aluminum meets concrete, it'll scratch/dent and it wont look as pretty.
I had an Element Case Vapor AR15-V when it was released for the iP4. I loved the look but it killed my reception..
I don't think/know if the S3 would fall victim to such an issue..

The aesthetic side of it is of no importance for me. On the reception issue, it was reportedly due to the antenna being linked to a section of the metal frame the iPhones had, so no problem here regarding the S3 i pressume.

I have one in blue, it works good but is lose just like that so I put pieces of tape to make it tight on the phone n also helps it not scratch the bezel .. all the buttons are accessible with no problems

I suppose you recommend it?
Edit: I've seen these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Urban-Armor...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352595740&sr=1-3) around, and although they seem quite nice, they surpass my budget right now. Any cheaper version of sorts? I think composite could do the trick just as fine.
Does anybody know something similar to the Urban Armor Gear (cheaper and less fancy) that could be of use?
i've always wondered if those slide on thing in the front actually stays on properly or not... I kinda prefer to have the screw on type... i think it's kinda cool.. the only thing I worry about is I don't know if the camera lens would get scratched when i place it on the back.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Otterbox-Co...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352662906&sr=1-1
well. the otterbox is not a bumper as well, so that's up to you. i had the commuter for the htc DZ and while it is nice, it also doubled the size of the phone.
and yeah, i didn't say the nicer bumpers were cheap,. i said they were expensive.

Thin, lightweight folio case?

Does anyone know where I can get a good case for the GN10.1 that can be used as a stand, as well? The case I have is perfect but is far too heavy for my liking. You can't really hold the tablet in your hands without them getting sore due to the added weight.

What is the current case you have?
I have this case but it might not be from this seller. It is light but I wouldn't trust it to protect in a drop. or having a lot of weight put on it. Prevents scratches and the like is what it does.

I bought this case also from a different seller they offered more colors. I got the red one after looking through the Cases thread. They have some great examples in there with pictures and personal reviews.

That looks like a great, light weight case. I can see what you mean about the trust, though. It's stylish and light at the expense of protection. I've been considering the actual Samsung one, but I want something with plenty of differing viewing angles. Does this stay shut with magnets or is it just a flip?

Hi, they look kind of good, has anyone bought one of this?

I actually have the red one. the clear back side actually gets a lot of scratches and fingerprints, unless you have the white nexus 5. Its a pretty simple case and saved my phone couple of times from minor drops. ( no screen protector).

This looks like one of the hybrid cases with the clear back removed. I'd bet money that's exactly what it is. Probably made in the same factory, they just don't put the back in these. I'll never understand the allure of bumper cases. They made sense with the iPhone 4/4s but for any other phone I think they are just pointless and ugly.

Is a decent protection while keeping it close to the original phone shape and weight. If you drop it, it can take most of the impact instead of your phone taking the impact. It also protect the glass part somewhat since it is rise on the front so if you put it on the table face down it is not touching the glass.
What's up with that rectangle bit sticking out on the back? Is that for anything particular? It kind of kills the flow.
looks like a cheap imitation of the iblason one

I mean I get it, but I just understand why people like them so much. But to each their own. The aluminum one (theres a thread for it somewhere) was somewhat OK, but this one looks like it's missing half the case.

agree, only phones with glass backing like the nexus 4/ iphone4/s need that back clear covering! otherwise a bareback bumper is fine!
