Got My new edge+ yesterday. I was happy as a child playing with it all day. In the evening I was ready to go to sleep, the edge was a bit warm of using it, not hot but just warm. Didn't play games or so, just usual apps installing, browsing, YouTube, etc... I wanted to check something on my surface pro which was on the kitchen table. I layed my edge next to it on the table on its glass back, no cover. While I was busy on my surface I heard strange noises, like things cracking. At first I couldn't see where it came from, It lasted several minutes. After I was done I took my phone to put it on the charger and I felt something strange on the back. DAMN, the entire back cover was cracked, not just a bit but scattered! Just like that! I went crazy, really. It seems that the metal band just crashed the glass back cover. I suspect the the colder surface of the kitchen table shrinked the warm metal band of the edge and so crushing the glass somehow.... How on earth am I going to explain this in the store where I bought it? They will say I dropped it, but I didn't for sure. You can't see any dent or scratch proving that. I will see how it goes tomorrow, will keep you posted. I'll make some pictures as well and post them here. This Is clearly a manufacturers faulty construction. So beware of warm devices on a colder surface!!

Wow that's amazingly unlucky . I don't get glass backs on phones. 90% of the time it's covered by a case so what's the point. I'd rather have a strong plastic back.
There could have been a hairline crack there all along, it doesn't seem likely that a 'warm' phone on a 'cool' surface would cause it, there would need to be some more extremes of temperature I am certain, else this would be a commonly reported issue.
I wish you luck back at the retailer, I would definitely consider insurance and at least a minimal case to protect the back, there are some decent transparent ones that don't spoil the look too much

Hairline might Be possible, i certainly didn't notice it. But how do you explain the crushing of the glass, that lasted for minutes? It wasn't a dry crack, it kept on cracking, I saw the splinters popping of even when I held the device in my hand. I really felt like it was being crushed. Also notice the edges of the glass, like there was a big pressure on it

Glass, all glass, is to a degree unpredictable. I have seen Navy war ship port holes 18" Diameter and 1" thick bounce off a concrete floor and not break. I have also seen the very same portholes be left overnight only to find one smashed to pieces with no apparent reason at all in the morning?
Same thing can happen with 50 grand watches, sapphire glass is second in hardness only to diamond yet tap it in the 'right spot' and bingo? Come to mention it same thing with uncut diamonds!
Problem here will be trying to convince the sales outlet that it may not be a customer error. Now that may take some doing.

Yup! Pretty much what I was thinking. Glass is a very temperamental material and I think this guy was just unlucky. Mobile phone insurance is essential.

Same thing happened to me! But on the front of my screen ;-; I didn't drop it ever and just sent it in to Samsung 2 days ago for a warranty check. It's been delivered to UPS but haven't been given any feedback yet from Samsung. I hope mine gets fixed or I will be pissed!

As a suggestion, could it be a faulty battery? My previous iphone 4s had the same problem, the old battery started to expand and caused the back glass to crack.
Hope you they replace it for you mate
When people replace the screens they heat the glass back of the phone up to a pretty high level just to pull it off. I would say something other than heat caused the issue.

More to the point, why do you buy a lovely looking shiny brand new phone then proceed to double the thickness, double the weight and make it look absolutely hideous?
I don't see why people do it - It's a phone - Use it, it WILL get scratches and it WILL get the odd knock if you're not careful. I always use mine naked and if you're careful and just use it normally you'll only ever pick up one or two scratches that you have to look in sunlight to see, over the two years of the contract.

Ok everybody, the purpose of this thread is to dispel the MYTH that you can not replace just the front glass. Good news for my brethren who as I, have learned that Gorilla Glass hardly deserves the moniker.
My phone was dropped from a height of less than three feet with a Speck Candyshell case installed and the screen cracked. Luckily the digitizer and SAMOLED were still fully functioning. I wondered if there was a way to replace just the glass. If you take the time to google Galaxy S3 replacement glass, you will find a mixture of threads on the subject with most saying that only a professional could do so. There are a few youtube videos on the matter, including one proclaiming that it is impossible to separate and replace only the outer glass without destroying the digitizer. This simply is NOT true. Not less than one hour ago I did exactly that.
Supplies:
Replacement Glass (Can be found for less than twenty dollars complete with a plastic separator, phillips screwdriver, and 3m tape cut fit.)
Hair Dryer
Painter's Tape (Or any semi-sticky tape that won't leave residue)
Gloves
Small Flathead Screwdriver
What I did:
First I removed the back cover and battery from the GS3. I went into my small bathroom and misted it with a spray bottle in hopes that it would reduce the dust in the air. I set my wife's hair dryer to high heat and low speed. I heated the bottom corner of my phone first because there was a small chip that looked like it would be a good place to start prying the screen off. I used the small flathead to start the prying because the provided plastic separator was not sturdy enough to initiate this. You don't have to worry about scratching the display during this step because there is that nice gap between the display and the actual bottom of the phone as well as the top. So either of these two places would be an ideal starting point. As you SLOWLY pry the screen up you will notice a small gap of air forming between the glass and the display. As soon as the screen is just high enough to fit a plastic separator between the glass and display, do it. I can not stress enough, go sloooowwwww. If you do not remove the glass strategically and smoothly you will cause scratches or cracks in the SAMOLED glass (The actual display). Pry from the largest shards first. Once the screen was high enough for the separator I applied a lot of heat again, and especially focusing on the gap so more heat would reach the glue directly. Heat, pry, heat, pry, heat, pry. When the glass is almost separated resist the urge to speed up, it was hard for me too... It is OK if the original glass cracks a little more as you remove it, when this happens change spots where you are prying. The glass should come off as one sheet held by the glue and colored portions. Undoubtedly you will find tiny shards and perhaps a fleck or two of dust. This is where the painter's tape comes in. Use the tape to remove any debris off of the SAMOLED screen. Do not touch the actual display, not even with gloves. This will smudge what is left of the original adhesive and will lead to annoying marks under your glass after the process. I am not sure of a good solvent that would not damage the screen or I would have used it, mine has a few smudges under it. However, they are only visible when the screen is off. I then took the 3m tape provided with my glass and applied it to the two appropriate places on the phone. Next, I removed the backing off of the new glass and carefully applied it from the top to the bottom. I had to use my screw driver to keep the capacitive button ribbons under the new glass in their proper positions. Once the glass was on the phone I heated it all up one more time to make the leftover glue and the new adhesive softer. Then I applied firm pressure around the circumference of the phone only. I let my phone cool down and then replaced the battery and cover. Finally I turned my phone back on and enjoyed all the glory of my achievement when EVERY aspect of my phone was fully functional. My phone is now a hybrid pblue/white because for whatever reason the white glass was eight dollars cheaper than the blue glass. In my opinion, it looks great.
Ps For this operation the provided phillips screwdriver is not needed.

Happens with ANY tutorial really. People are still bricking their s3s. People are still flashing ROMs for the international version on our phones lol

My phoen cracked in similar fashion about 3 weeks ago.
I priced aorund and the fix around my area was 350 bucks to replace the entire screen,
I ended up spending 150 bucks more and bought it new again.
Had I known this then i would have def tried it.

I am up for replacing one to make a tutorial video. However, that would require trust on the part of the sender. Of course I would return the phone, because well, that would just be f***ed up. So, here is my offer; if anyone out there has a phone with cracked glass but fully functioning touch and display, send it to me minus the sim card, with the replacement glass, 3m tape, and the plastic separator. I will use your phone to make a tutorial video, and then ship it back to you with the couple of bucks you will provide for return shipping. If anyone is interested, pm me.

Likewise, I will not accept liability for any other damage to the phone, though I would take the utmost care with your device and do not expect to damage it in any way.

Also, the repair will be done within a week of receiving the phone so do not expect it to be returned as soon as I receive it. I am a more than full time mechanical engineering student and I have a pretty busy schedule.
Side thought: I wonder why all of the phone repair professionals say that this process is near impossible unless you are a professional like they are? For instance, this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es8gezSdKv4&feature=youtu.be . I am in no way a professional phone repairman and I typically lack finesse. Yet, this was pretty simple to me...

Great thread. I haven't had to deal with a cracked screen (thank goodness) but kudos to you for going out on a limb and trying something others said wasn't possible. Much appreciated that you posted up pictures and a walkthrough for this.

So I am sitting in my chair at home and my phone slipped from my hand or something and I reached to grab it. Of course this just results in my hitting my phone and making it speed up as it falls against the plastic edge of my sliding glass door. It fell face first but the face wasn't hit. I had my Otterbox Defender case on it and the hard plastic edge of the Otterbox had two small dings in it.
Afterwards I noticed the touch screen sensitivity was not working properly. The screen is not cracked but something underneath it certainly it. It is not noticeable until the screen is off and even then it would be impossible to take a picture of it and post it for anybody to see here.

I will have to also place some blame on the Otterbox case. It has both a hard plastic guard on the screen and a softer one. There is absolutely no cushioning effect if the screen is hit. It just smacks the plastic case into the screen.
Maybe I could do the same thing a hundred times and it would never happen again.
Dam that sucks. I have the Otter box case too and I dropped my phone multiple times but everything was ok. Maybe something came loose from the glass digitizer like a flat wire.

original poster here....I had my wife take a picture of it. You can't see the cracks but I did notice that something is causing a 'bleeding' under the glass. I used my onscreen flashlight app and selected a color in order for the bleeding area to be more visible. This didn't happen until about 20 minutes or so after I dropped it.
The screen appears normal otherwise with the exception of the large smudge on the right and the lighter colored smudge on the left.

I would say that you are just very unlucky. .not that the phone is pathetic in any way.
The bigger the screen the bigger the chance of it breaking.
There are just as many folks like myself who have had their phone fall from much higher heights without incident. ..and consider ourselves lucky.
There are never any guarantees on this regardless of what case you have it in.
It's not bullet proof kevlar....it's glass and plastic.
Take it back and get a new one or something diffetent if your of the mind to if you feel the phone is too fragil for your liking.

It sucks that your phone took a hit but it's luck of the draw. It all depends on how it lands, what the impact point is, and how the impact is distributed. If the N2 had mass durability issues we'd have known by now as millions have been sold.
This one did just fine from 5'...
My phone's taken worse falls. Black ice and pavement at least 3ft off the ground. Worst it's ever gotten was a pinhole ding near the edge of the screen. Phone works fine otherwise. I don't use an Otterbox either, just those aluminum edge bumpers.
Considering that my iPhones (before I moved to Android) each had Otterboxes, I think the blame is mostly on Otterbox. My iPhones all had their screen/digitizer give out, crack or fall apart from the same type of falls when in the case, but oddly survive when they were naked. Don't get me wrong. Otterbox was awesome when it came to blunt force impact, such as getting run over, (Yes, I've accidentally run over an iPhone before...) but they just don't do so well from regular falls for some reason.
Sorry man... I'm just laughing my a$$ off right now... not because your phone is broken (that does definitely suck) but the fact that you had to come on here and lay blame on everything but yourself (the durability of the phone, how it absolutely should not have happened especially when you stated that you sped the phone's velocity after you dropped your very expensive device in the first place, and the Otterbox that supposed protect your phone). You made a mistake, you have the insurance, all good, right? Try stopping to smell the flowers instead of pissing all over them because you stubbed your own toe on the way over.

In the fall I was using my Note as a GPS device on my motorcycle...it actually fell off the handlebar mount but dangled by the powercord on the pavement for about 100 ft. at 20 mph. I was in SHOCK but it didn't get ANY marks...unbelievable.
I had a simple TPU case that extends just a bit above the screen.
I have no complaints about durability in my situation.
Its luck of the draw really. I bet there are hundreds of people out there who've dropped their note2 in far worse positions and nothing has happened.
Happened to me with my iphone 3gs. I dropped it probably over 10 times. It always fell out of one jacket I had. It fell on the corners, sides, face down and back down on concrete, tile, asphalt...etc. the one time it breaks ... it fell on my wood deck and cracked the screen.

I love my note 2, and i'm still keeping it.. the insides are just amazing.. but the outside? just embarrassing really..
Around the screen part at the top i'm already noticing a GAP/Crack forming i can stick my fingernail in and even make wider... it's frustrating as hell.

Yeah unfortunately, it's what Samsung had to do to make the device marketable. I knew what I was getting into which is why I have insurance on my Note 2. If Samsung made this device more durable, I'm sure the price would've shot up more than the standard $299 upgrade price which a lot of people think is quite a lot in the first place (like you said, the insides are awesome which is what the selling point really is). All Samsung products are flimsy from their TVs to their counter tops. They are functional, sleek looking, and for their electronics, fast.... But you have to be careful with them (check out how easily you can warp a Samsung LCD/LED TV just by holding it wrong causing light leak... But man, does it look great when it isn't busted) .

Yes, I do have insurance. I went to the Assurion site and filed a claim. Towards the end the site gave me a bunch of sh it about filling out and uploading a signed affidavit, providing a copy of my phone bill, a copy of my id, and a picture of the back of the phone under the battery (or a sales receipt or upc code from the box). The site says that takes up to 48 hours, then it takes 1-2 days to ship out, and then another day or two to arrive at my house. I had dealt enough with [email protected] replacing my warranty phone and taking a ridiculous amount of time. I ended up just going down and paying like $709 for a new one AND had the AT&T store do the insurance paperwork for the phone. I might get the phone Friday; who knows.
All I know is that I will have two Note 2 phones. I might take the one back that I just bought and pay the restocking fee. Or, it might be nice to have an extra just to screw around with different ROMS and not have to worry about staying up till late at night getting my phone functioning properly for the next day. I have a lot of learning to do with the Android platform. I don't like having my phone on me and not having it fully functioning without all my adjustments set and apps working properly. I am like OCD when it comes to that and it causes me anxiety for some reason.
I wonder if all these developers have a buttload of extra phones that they use in addition to their everyday carry phone. It seems odd that they would be doing all this experimenting on their everyday phones.
I'm shocked your phone broke like that, especially with a defender on it. Just recently my phone fell out of my waistband while I was running and bounced down the pavement without a case on it. Picked it up off the ground screen first and there wasnt a single mark on my screen. Got some nice gouges on the back and sides but my screen is still flawless. Made a thread about it with pics. I'm surprised people are getting worse results WITH hefty cases on them.

Other than the obvious fact that those of us who have dropped our devices are responsible, I still think it's the case. Otterbox may need to consider gel cushions at certain points of the case to have greater absorption of the shock of impact. The edges seems to be the most susceptible since there's no cushion at all. Just a snug, form-fitting hard plastic with a gel/rubber layer on top. That sudden impact still causes the phone to push against the hard plastic.
Just think of it this way; In an accident, head-on collision or being hit from behind, your head is pushed hard against your headrest. The headrest is cushioned with foam, but that foam will feel like hard plastic against the back of your head from the sudden force of movement. But the interior layer of the best Otterbox is hard plastic, so imagine what that must feel like during impact.
I never liked the defender cases due to the hard plastic inside. It would always leave wear marks on my phones somewhere. I switched over to the commuter which is a soft rubber with a hard outter shell. That's the way to go in my eyes.

First off, I've tried to be careful with the screen. I don't like screen protectors, but i guess now i'll have to get one. Im not even sure this screen is real glass, more like some sort of plastic composite if you ask me. I've come from the HTC One M7 and had it for over a year and a half and never had any problems with screen scratches. This just a few days and there is a noticeable scratch. Thankfully when the screen is on I don't see it. I've look at methods to remove scratches but doubt any will work on this. Only option screen protector. Just letting those of you that don't use one, you will end up with surface scratches on this device.

Do you keep your phone in your right or left pocket? I have started putting mine in my left pocket because of the steel brads on the watch pocket on most jeans and shorts. I got a scratch on my Note 2 when I first got it.
Just wondering if this could be the cause.
Not sure which pocket or if i had coins or keys that scratch it, just letting peeps know the screen isnt as hard as glass
Factory reset it. Scratch will be gone

I drive a lifted Jeep Wrangler with 35" Mud Tires. I was talking to a friend and dropped my Note 4 out the window. It fell probably 3 feet and landed on Asphalt. The only damage to it was a booger on the top right corner of the metal band. And that's with no case at the time.
Just out of curiosity, is there official documentation of what kind of glass the Note 4 has? I've seen articles that claim it's Gorilla Glass 3, but the documentation at Samsung and AT&T doesn't mention that, as far as I can see.

I'm sorry about your scratch and I appreciate your warning. But for me, the lesson isn't to use a screen protector; I haven't done that for years and haven't scratched a screen in all that time. Instead, the lesson is to be careful about where the phone is put. I always reserve my front left pocket exclusively for the phone, and if I did otherwise I'd consider that an invitation for scratches.

I need to find a quick free scratch gone method. Help?
You should ALWAYS use a screen protector for your phone. No exceptions. It will eventually scratch and you will regret not having one on. You should also have it in a case, well at least a slim case.
This is a fragile $800 piece of equipment which you use everyday. All it takes is one careless misstep and you got a cracked screen or a dent in your brand new phone.

For the first time since my first smartphone (original iphone) I didn't use a screen protector with the Note 3. The screen remained perfect. I highly doubt they used an inferior glass to the Note 3's. At the very least it should be the same pane except with the slight curve on the edge.
While I don't doubt your screen got scratched there must be an explanation beyond that of blaming the quality of the glass.
a single grain of sand will scratch the glass...

I have to disagree. You never put a piece of film/plastic over a display, camera lens, etc. It will distort image output. I used to be a diehard screen protector proponent way back when I had my HTC EVO. I always used the most expensive kind. I remember having to change my protector one time and taking that thing off, there was a tremendous difference in screen quality. From that moment forward, I have never used another screen protector. I've owned every version of the Note and screen damage has between superficial to none. I dropped my Note 3 dozens of times on every surface imaginable, and there's only a half inch superficial scratch on the screen. Protectors are not necessary in this day and age. What's the point of having a qHD screen is you're going to diminish it's beauty with a screen protector??

You're mistaken. There are plenty of exceptions, for people who are careful enough with their phones. I've never used a case and never broken a phone, and for the last several phones I've had, I've never used screen protectors and never gotten even the slightest scratch or blemish on my screen.
Yes, I'm sure I'll end up damaging a phone once every 15 or 20 years. But if I divide that expense over the number of years involved, it will come to less cost and inconvenience than if I'd bought cases and screen screen protectors all along.
I wonder if I'm the first person to Crack their screen. 2ft drop to tile floor. I've never broken a phone before. Funny thing is my case is supposed to be here today.

Never thought about that "watch" pocket on jeans. Maybe I'll switch the phone to the left pocket and keys and such go in the right.
Although, as mentioned above I've dropped this Note 4 out of a Jeep window and had no scratches. I've also dropped it in the Jeep and had it slide between the console, under the seat and rattle around until I could stop and dig it out. Still, no scratches.

2 things I get immediately for a new device: a good case & a screen protector- preferably a glass one.
With your phone on a white webpage in a dark room, and with the brightness turned up fully....Look directly at the side of the phone above the volume buttons and along the length of the webpage on the screen....Do you see a small gap with light coming through below the black paint on the glass and the metal? See pic.
This is not a reflection due to the curved glass, and it is not a simple build quality issue due to black painted area not going down far enough.
Mine is an actual gap that I can stick a corner of a piece of paper into quite far. It also disappears when I press down on that side of the screen.
My wife got the same phone at the same time, and hers is the same!

I have this issue. It makes the phone look absolutely disgusting. I actually thought it was a glass reflection thing though so it hasnt bothered me until now.
I noticed a huge increase in dirt/grime throughout the edge areas lately.. How does sending the phone back work? I'm unable to drive anywhere near the only Samsung store (in TO -_-)

Yea I thought that as well and it scared the **** out of me. If I stick a piece of paper in the gaps, I can actually feel the rubber adhesive coating thats about 5mm in.. If you think about it... Thats a HUGE gap. HUUGE. And thats completely all around the edges.. Its even worse at the corners.
If you look at pictures of the S7 Edge screen at night, you will NOT see any of this. This is absolutely a defect.

I may try to tape it off, and smear some black silicone in the side gaps, clean it up, and see if I can be happy with it.......otherewise they are going back.

Idk. After looking it up, I noticed that the black S7 Edge wasnt having this issue, so either this is a defect, or a horrible, horrible design flaw.

This has never happened on any other phone I have had. Keep in mind this happens on the top and bottom.. Which means it is nut a curved screen related issue. This is a gap issue that causes the edge of the glass panel to be exposed that creates travelling light to bleed out of the edges.

Yes, I know. Every note7 has that issue. It's just the painting job problem. Normally the painting must cover all of the edges to not allow the lights from the back lid come out.
Mine have this issue too but still can swim under water.

yes. it's a little bit annoying when in the dark room.
But it doesn't bother me at all when in the bright room and under sunshine. Actually I use S-cover so most of the time I didn't notice it lol.
Samsung better has an announcement for this.
I can confirm I have the same issue, but only on the S pen side; didn't notice any gaps with the other 3 sides so certainly seems like a defect.
I have a uniform space all around the device between the glass and the inner metal frame. The space is enough for a piece of paper to be slid in. I would suspect, I don't know, that bonding metal to glass needs some form of expansion gap due to heat?
I have just looked at my Samsung galaxy S6 Edge+ and this has no such space BUT this does not mean that the S6 Edge doesn't have an expansion gap. Such expansion factors can be achieved in different ways.
I doubt dust will enter between that space and get in-between the glass and screen?
I will go to the store today and speak with the manager and request he contact Samsung regarding this matter. I will also call Samsung myself latter in the day.
It would indeed be a major blunder IF this was a design or manufacturing fault on the part of Samsung. At present I cant really see the quality control being so poor, not as all phones appear to have this space no matter what continent we live on? The sheer scale, if this is a problem, would be hyper damaging to not only the reputation of Samsung but also its finances.
I also have a gut feeling that trying to receive an honest sensible response from Samsung is going to be a problem, still I shall be discussing this with the store manager so IF, in the future, this is a genuine problem, he will respond accordingly.
I could do without this at present. Still has to be sorted.

I suggest binned instead of pinned
Reason being is that I don't want to now make the screen full white brightness and look at the sides in the dark, just in case I spot something that will then make me constantly obsess about it

How often do you stare at the side of your phone at 100% brightness in a dark room? This reminds of a thread in the GT-i9100 forum where people saw gray blotches on the display if it was at 10% brightness while displaying a gray background in a dark room. Since I never do either of those two things put me on the not concerned list. And I know, a gazillion dollar device should be "perfect."

The LAST thing I want or need is a performance with my Note 7 however....I vividly recall owning the Asus Transfomer Prime tablet with key board some years ago. I am a long term fan of Asus products. Wow did they drop the ball with the Prime. Problem was/is the casing was all metal so the GPS didn't work at all and the net signal strength was near zero too. This was THE cutting edge tablet of its time and also the most expensive and very hard to find one.
The end result from Asus after petitions and court cases was to place a sticker on the boxes saying the device had no GPS? What they did about the other issues I dont know, mine went back! Point is big brand names DO make some truly awful blunders.
A blunder in itself is not the problem its getting brands like Asus, Sony Samsung etc to acknowledge such a blooper has been made. This is why I am taking this thread with caution but also treating the matter seriously.
Until I had read this thread I had not noticed any such phenomena as my mobile is in a flip case.
When the OP said he could slip paper into the gap that concerned me and still does until I can be assured that this is not a design problem.
I totally agree we must not be OCD but a cautious responsible investigation is not going to harm us. :highfive:
Better to be safe than sorry and find after 14 days one is stuck with a mobile with a possible problem.

I respect your posts and enjoy reading them.
Provided this 'gap' does not affect the devices water-dust resistance I am also satisfied.
I am not given to flights of fancy nor do I panic about such material things. I do desire to ensure my investment is taken care of though and a little careful research with caution can but be a good thing. After all if there is a blunder we will all benefit from the OP's post. :fingers-crossed:

I've seen good able bad reviews but that's the case with most products so it's hard to speak to the quality. For the price it seemed like a good deal and someone certainly got a good deal on it having to only pay shipping.

Quality is pretty solid. It covers the entire face of the phone (including the notch) with cutouts for both speakers and the proximity sensor (glass covers both selfie cameras). Does not have an alignment kit like Whitestone so definitely take your time applying it. The only nag I have about it is that it has a dot matrix for some reason...almost like it was supposed to be an edge adhesive screen protector but they decided not to put adhesive on it and just sell it with LOCA. Also worth noting, their "oleophobic nano coating" wipe will leave the glass looking a little hazy after you wipe it on. Be sure to buff/polish it after to make it smooth and shiny again. Personally, the dot matrix bugs me enough (more apparent when the screen is white) to be getting Whitestone Dome when/if it comes out for our phone. Otherwise, the most solid TGSP I've tried for the Pixel 3 XL

Thank you so much for this review. The dot matrix is an absolute deal breaker for me. I tried to use a screen protector with a dot matrix before and just couldn't un-see all of those dots!

Once the loca is applied you barely notice it. But when the screen turns all white it almost looks like there's glitter on the screen. You really kind of have to look for it. My guess is that it's similar to how loca is really good at hiding existing scratches and scuffs that your screen may already have. Wish I had another phone to snap a picture of it...

Sorry guys, I've been so swamped recently I forgot xda existed. Basically it's a product commonly used to protected the paint on cars. I used to be in the detail industry and learned all the ins and the outs of the process and after struggling with all the rather poor screen protectors available for our phone figured I might as well not use one at all.
So here goes...
Essentially ceramic coating is a process in which a liquid topical solution is applied to the intended surface and transfers a coating at the nanometer level to said surface. The liquid solution "flashes" over in roughly 1 minute but also as quickly as 10 to 15 seconds. At that point the coating is buffed with a microfiber which picks up all the excess solution and leaves behind a 100% invisible coating. I mean it's literally as if nothing is there, however I can assure you that there is. Anyway at that point your pretty much finished, however it will continue to cure over the next 24 to 72 hours. In my case I simply let my pixel set for 3 days as I don't use it daily. After that you have about the absolute toughest coating possible on your screen short of having a tgsp installed. I think I did this about 2 to 3 weeks ago now and with near daily use it's still help up perfectly. Haven't gotten a single microscratch or microswirling on my phone and the screen is still glassy smooth and fingers glide with extreme ease along the surface of my phone. I'm honestly stunned with how well it's worked. I know it's a game changer when applied to car paint but I didn't have particularly high expectations for my phone. I'll probably continue this with all future devices as well, no point to get a tgsp at this point

Would be pretty hard to scratch as it is a 8 on the mohs scale of hardness. It essentially is as tough as Sapphire! I have a zodiac watch that's 10+ years old now and I've taken it with me to many places and it's been roughed up some and the glass is still pristine not a single mark on it. My main concern is would it wear off over time, if that is the case you would need to know when to reapply. Edit: found info on a website "A Ceramic Coating is not a substitute for Paint Protection Film, which provides a more comprehensive for of defensive. Rather, it is a premium wax alternative. A Ceramic Coating creates a permanent or semi-permanent bond with a vehicle’s paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months."

If it somehow managed to get scratched it'll just be scratched. Not much to be done about it. However you can reapply any time. I have a coating rated for 5 years on a car, and that's something being exposed to constant uv from the sun and all the elements of weather. I expect that I'll never have to reapply to my phone.

It's extremely hard to scratch. I've taken knives to coated paint before and couldn't get a mark on it
