Are you returning your Gear VR with your Note? - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Samsung today sent me instructions for returning the Note 7. Since I preordered I got a Gear VR "for free", am I to return this as well or can I just keep it?

I would say, there is no need for you to return it. As it was a complimentary gift. And Samsung will not ask for it back. The recall exercise also doesn't include accessories.

That depends on the country one lives in.
Here the Samsung importer wants the complete box and contents back or they would bill the store who made the sale! They also wanted the VR back, that's a very long story that was resolved by the store and NOT Samsung. In the end the store gave me a VR from THEIR back room with their compliments.
Samsung here has been a total pig of an importer. Had I the energy I would have written to the head office and complained but why bother?
IN this country the VR was advertised by the store, also Samsung, as a free gift. To that end, in law, Samsung have given a gift, gifts are non returnable.

It's not an engagement ring to take it back. I will keep my gift for the pain of returning 2xNote 7.

I got the Fit Watch 2, I'm not sending it back. They are lucky I didn't order my S7 Edge until after the VR promotion ended otherwise I would get one of those too.

In the Philippines They didn't require to return the vr

In Romania, Vodafone said it's fine to return the phone without VR. I sold it 2 weeks ago.

[Q] £250 vouchers?

Anyone that was at the 'global' launch received their £250 worth of vouchers from Samsung yet?
I'm not sure if I was in the top 100 people but I was queueing up at about 07:50 and I put my name and email on a list so I'm just wondering if anyone has received them yet?

If you came at 7:50 then I was probably a few places in front of you in the line, but no I haven't got any emails about it either.

I was the guy looking thoroughly cheesed off about the fact the there was only one shop in the country that was supplying them on launch day. I noticed the media team with the camera steered well clear of me instead asking questions to 'the only girl in the queue'
I remember when I bought Sammy gtab 10.1 on the release day in London something was as well. Sammy offered cover and keyboard to first 100 ppl, it took about a month. I'm guessing that it's due to 27days return policy. they didn't want to give free stuff and people would return gtab and sell the freebies...

Yeah i'm due one too and the cashback offer but not been contacted yet. They did say 7 days to me to be fair.

Yeah, that's what they said to me and seven days would probably mean business days so we're looking to the start of next week
I was just wondering if they were being proactive and sending them out when they said they would rather than leaving it for weeks and weeks
I was close to the front and nothing. I expect it will take around three weeks.
I was 3rd in the Queue but still nothing, i remember one of the Sammy Reps saying it would take "A Few Weeks"
Also I seem to remember that they said the voucher will be redeemed with Samsung's own Android store, not the market. Since I don't think Samsung has put up an ICS version of their store app yet it will probably be a while till we get it.

So do we know what exactly we get? I got some vague description of apps and films and stuff. Was more interested in the cashback offer at the time tbh
I was told by 2 of the Phones4U sales team that we would get £250 vouchers for Android content and £100 extra vouchers from phones4U.
I have contacted Phones4U twice now (as they didn't get back to me the first time) they said it would be coming from Samsung and they would email us a code after 20 days.
The cameras were for Google internal. Nothing special.

I was in the queue early morning behind a guy who already had one! I got in, given and handset and then got denied a contract on Orange!
At least I got the T-Shirt
I came back at about 6 and there were still 2 name slots on the list, managed to get my upgrade with Vodafone so that was one less hassle!
So I got the 250 vouchers and the 100 return (still waiting for these), Phones4U didn't want to write this offer on my contract though...
Also got a mug too!
Not really sure how to spend 250 on apps and videos?!?
I got £200 vouchers from Samsung when I registered my Galaxy Tab and it broke down like this:
15 new release films from Samsung Movies (or more if I chose cheaper ones), movies are £12
5 Gameloft games
50 mp3's from emusic
£25 WHSmith ebook voucher

They told me it was for the Android market. But I might have get them wrong, it was very hectic.
the p4u guy also told the vouchers/credits were coming from Samsung in the next 7 days but didn't give me anyway of proving that i would be getting it. Basically i was supposed to have faith that Samsung was going to miraculously know to contact me.

I didnt get a mug! Just Tshirt and stickers.
Was really hoping it would be for the android market. I was wondering if they could be used to buy comics through the marvel app, or when the music store comes out.

Wouldn't mind knowing myself, took a punt on the LG Watch R at the weekend, which is nice but would prefer the Zen. I have it preordered at Expansys at the moment, got in while they were taking orders rather than just the register interest page they have up now.
I had some interest in LG G Watch R because of the circular display but I think the watch is a bit too chunky. Will have a look at expansys

I'm currently using the LG Watch R and had the same thoughts as you, but it's not as bad as I imagined it would be. However I still have my preorder with Expansys and will decide on which one I want to keep once it arrives. Hopefully soon!
Hi all,
I pre ordered mine here: http://www.expansys.fr/asus-zenwatch-eu-265396/
Please note I'm from France.
Anyone got any news with UK release? Hopefully comes before Christmas so I can get myself a Christmas present
Noticed this morning that Simply Electronics list this on their site for £184.95. Also that they've got 5 in stock and make no mention of it being imported. Considering a UK launch date or price hasn't been announced (that I know of) I'd be very sceptical.
UPDATE: A glance at some Google Shopping reviews suggests they might not be on the level.
they are based in HK and have some very dodgy reviews - actually rang them this morning asking whether it is uk stock and this wasn't clearly answered. I then asked about customs duty and they just said its an all inclusive price - bollox. Expect duty and RM charges on top....
I actually remember I nearly bought a camera off this lot a couple of years back but they aren't exactly truthful about location of item or taxes etc - means you'll pay customs and it'll be regarded as a grey import without warranty.
I think its sad that ASUS are dragging their feet on this. I've looked at big daddy in the US but again with their $40 fee and customs, its getting expensive!
Need an american friend to buy and send as a gift!
Anyone heard anything more on the UK release?
Avoid Simply B'S they are HK based

I decided to try se after I discussed at length where the watch was coming from (uk or abroad) , the warranty, etc. I was told it's coming from the UK. Has a UK se warranty. Ordered last week and the amount of bull I've been fed since is unreal. Been told due to amount of orders they should be able to post it by mid December! Even though they originally said 10 days..... I queried why it should even take 10 days?! They are full of sh.....
If and when it arrives, if it's not a UK warranty, I will charge it back through my credit card as I will have been mis sold the item according to trading standards. Mmm I will then follow up with trading standards and ensure they are put out of business based on their mis-sellibg practices... At least in the uk/as a UK seller.
Anyway, still no UK date grrr

Don't order from Simply Electronics. The product they have is not certified anywhere and is dodgy. They quote low prices to draw people in and you very stung after. I got taken in by the cheap price if a macbook air but it wasn't European certified or certified by America FFC. They're customer services is rubbish and they don't reply and when they do they try to get you to keep the product at a reduced cost. I had to complain through PayPal and eventually got all my money back. Lesson learnt. They are based in HK but have warehouses in UK and Europe. If you ever do order then be wary as they're not that easy in returning and will try to get away with charges to deduct from the amount you paid on receipt of a return. I would suggest you all keep away like you would with the plague!! All the reviews online are rubbish and are made up to make them look good.

Expansys have changed from a "keep me notified" page to a pre-order page. I don't know whether that's due to a site relaunch (can't recall whether I've seen that design before), or whether it's changing.
BTW, for a while now, I haven't seen Simply listed on the Google Shopping page when searching for the Zenwatch.

I pre ordered back in October but nothing since then obviously. Dunno if I should pre order again! Had a price when I first did it. £159.98 is the price that was given.
Just looked on simply be and it's on their site for pre order just under £200 - site has changed a lot since I made that horrible mistake of ordering from them a while ago.

I have a zenwatch in my possession in the UK. It was ordered from the US via Big Apple Buddy. I ordered it on Friday 5th December at around 2100, paid by PayPal and had it - with shipping & tracking information and regular updates - delivered by FedEx by 1030 on Monday 8th December.
The total cost was around $285, including service charges, but felt this was still pretty good value in the realm of early adoption, given the interminable wait for the damn thing to reach the UK.
I can vouch for the fact that Big Apple Buddy are entirely safe and reputable.
And the watch? Well worth it, especially with 5.01 sideloaded.
I looked at them^ but they came back much more expensive than this!
I've just ordered a Gear VR from Samsung US using .comGateway - very reasonable $20 plus postage.

wow that's messed up.
for me, best buy 100% required a signature.
did you opt out of that on UPS.com?? they won't deliver without a signature...
Didn't opt out. I have expensive things shipped to my office. My boss actually signed for it and didn't noticed anything. The crazy things is, I bought the S7 and S7 Edge. Got the S7, 2 VRs and the 2 64gb microSDs on Tuesday. BB still showed preparing to ship status, but it got delivered this afternoon. I called them to report it and they took care of it and will be shipping me out a new one. Best part is they credited me back $100 for my troubles. That helps since I paid full price for both.
wow! that's some awesome customer service. idc what people say, I love best buy just as much as amazon.. especially because I love best buy rewards lol

Eff that guy! People are so cruel!
The saga continues. BB has filed a claim with UPS and that has to be resolved before I can be refunded. Hell, I'm not even sure about keeping the GS7 that I already got. May just end up keeping my GS6 and GS6 Edge and forgo the S7 altogether .
The packages are weighed by the package carrier.
If you kept everything including the shipping box and any packing material.
The total weight should prove that the phone (5.54 oz) and any accessories were missing at time of shipment.
This same thing happened with a replacement Nexus 6, to this day I never got my replacement phone and had to fight them with my credit card company to stop them from charging me for the phone I never received.

Bestbuy-Free Gear Fit 2

So I just wanted to help anyone like me who didn't get the Free Gear Fit 2 from Bestbuy. For some reason the stores are under the impression you can only get the Gear Fit 2 if you purchase the phone under contract or lease, since I bought my Note 7 out right they said I couldn't get the Fit. So I went to another Bestbuy to check out cases and just passing asked another mobile rep and they said the same thing,so I figured ok this sucks but what ever. When I got home I looked at the ad and read the fine print and it says for anyone that purchase or signs a contract/lease. So I called the 1800 Bestbuy number and talked to a rep and he instantly knew what was going on and called over to the store to tell them that my purchase did qualify. I had to go back to the store and the store had to call the bestbuy hotline number, the person on the phone just gave the employee a 'promo code' and it zeroed out the balance of the Gear Fit 2. I figured I would share this so if anyone didn't get the Fit could go get one.
Online deal: Large Gear Fit 2
In-store deal: Choice of small Gear Fit 2 or 256GB memory card.
It was confusing for me and I bet the employees were confused by it too, especially if ordering online but picking it up in the store.
I've ordered two online and picked up in store on two separate occasions and both included the Gear Fit 2.
Now asking them to switch the Gear Fit for a 256GB card is another story... They were adamant about not switching (even though they could have cancelled the order and repurchased).
Its unfortunate because I like instant gratification so I shop there but they are routinely overstocked with stupid.

That's what I was told also.
My problem was that since I paid full price with no contract they said I didn't qualify for the deal.
I went with the "financing plan" and got the Large Gear Fit 2 (which I promptly sold on Ebay) AND a $200 Bestbuy G/C.
Maybe it can very from region to region?

Note 7 Gifts Returning

Those of you who got the gifts i.e. Gear VR, SD card, etc. with your Note 7, please share with us how is in your countries, whether you need to return these items together with phone or not ?
Thank you beforehand.
Here in Slovenia, they want that we return all although accessosries were added as a gift for our preorders.
You don't need to return them anywhere
pre official recall... as in before people knew how to handle it... some did take it back. Others just took the phone
Legal wise they cant ask for it. It was a gift and Samsung is recalling a product and forcing you to return it.
Here in Singapore, we got the lens kit.
I'm keeping that. The lens is good.

Simply untrue.
I only received my Gear VR TODAY from the outlet where I bought my original Note 7 over two months ago! The store has applied on my behalf to Samsung FIVE times to receive my 'free gift' . I have received five confirmation emails yet in the months gone by, with exchange etc, I had still not received one.
On the advice of my lawyer he told me to write a letter to the store outlining the situation. I did that and today the manager of the outlet gave me a Gear VR headset out of his back room stock as the local Samsung importer had informed him yesterday and again today that as there was going to be a total recall on the Note 7 all customers would have to return the free gift!!!!
The manager of the store contacted his head office and was told to give me the VR with the stores best wishes. Samsung's attitude was typical for this country. We have your money now go forth and multiply.
When I am told to return the Note 7 it will HAVE to be in the box with receipt and every single accessory that came with it or Samsung will bill the store! Had I not got a very good relationship with this local store and am an excellent customer I would not have received today the stores gift of the Gear VR.
I said from the start of this awful fiasco that regardless of how Samsung Korea play this out, how each country treats its customers will vary. The American habit of litigation is the reason those in America will be treated totally differently to those of us who live in Europe.
I am stuck with 100.00€ of SAMSUNG cases and screen protectors. I dread to think what Samsung here would tell me what to do with them! If Samsung didn't produce such good devices I would never purchase Samsung again. I accept there has been a major **** up but the way its been handled here is disgusting.

It's official (got e-mail today from service provider) - we in Estonia have to return gift with the phone to get refund or another Samsung phone (S7 or S7 Edge).
Unless it is already official announced and you have read the official statement, else it is still too early to make any assumptions...
Here in Malaysia, before any official statement from Samsung Malaysia was made, people have been spreading "official" rumors that all the free gifts are to be returned to Samsung Malaysia should we opt of a refund. Today, Samsung Malaysia just announced, all we need to return is the Note 7 and its box. All official accessories bought in their or their retail partners' stores can be refunded, provided we can show them the proof of purchase. Those folks who opt for S7 edge will get some extra cash back. Not as good as Samsung US, but can consider not bad.
In the Philippines, I asked Samsung if we need to return the v (welcome gift) and they said no need.
Returned everything today to service provider. They said that promotional gift has to be returned and I did.
At least I could return cases I bought from them and to other shops (and got refunded!).
O2 in the UK told me I needed to return the phone and free gifts, the courier they sent refused to take anything other than the phone. so who knows.
Got a deal from reseller. So not complaining anymore.
CPW here in the UK seem to have wanted the Gear VR back too - I complained and told them I've already sold it on (which is true), so can't return even if I wanted to.
They when relented and will accept just the phone back (not that I've returned it yet).

That's a bum deal. It must just be CPW policy, because I bought mine direct from Samsung UK Store with the free Gear VR and they don't want it back.
Come to think of it, what are they going to do with a used VR ? It's not like they can re-box it and sell it. It wouldn't be particularly hygienic either!
Maybe the staff in the store will... 'find' a use for them and stick them on eBay!
.
Canada I've had to return it.
Yet, if i knew better id put up a fight and would most likely be able to keep my wireless charger and 125gig sd card.

Have you got any Emails to confrim this?
When I spoke to the the other day, they said the wanted everything back.
Well for me, I moaned at them as part of my ongoing complaint, and they have "updated my notes" to reflect the fact that I can return the N7 without the Gear VR. I have this via email so do have it in writing.
Not sure how they would fair refusing to accept a return without it though, considering the situation...

I don't have it in writing but the woman said on the customer helpline, just return the phone. The last recall I didn't even return the phone accessories. It was the phone in a jiffy bag.
The VR was a gift for pre-ordering early. So that's what I did, and that's what they gave. So, if they are forcing me to return the phone they cannot expect the VR to go back too. They haven't asked for it anyway, but if they did they would get the biggest gob full of abuse, no mistake!
.
It's a GIFT. I sent my note complete with all accesories without Gear VR. If someone ask for a gift back in a normal life...how would you call it...rude? Maybe worse....
