VoIP problem - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

At my job, we use an Allworx VoIP phone system that offers an app for a soft phone. I was using it for about 8 months on the 6p with no issues, then on the note 7 until I had to give it back. On the pixel, we're having some issues where the phone will stop being able to connect back to the server when on wifi after a day or less. If I switch to 4g it will connect, then go back to wifi and it still won't. Reboot the phone and it works... For a short time. I called tech support for the company and they acknowledged a problem with the pixel and said it is up to Google to fix, it's not a problem with their app. They didn't offer me much info aside from that.
Has anyone heard any specific issues with the network stack on the pixel or with anything else that might cause this on this device but no others? I'd love to find some other workaround aside from rebooting my phone every few hours to stay connected when I'm not physically in the office.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy S III, WiFi 'authentication' issues and router question...

*EDIT* Posted in the wrong section; my apologies. i was looking in Q&A and hit 'new thread' in General. Move please? Again, sorry!
My GS3 will not connect to any WiFi networks. I have 13 days remaining to return/replace it. I have tried on 3 different routers; a Linksys WRT-54G, Belkin F5D8233-4 Wireless N router, and whatever D-Link router a local coffee shop had.
I have tried the special command *#0011# (or whatever it is). i have tried disabling WPS, changed router channels, disabled all security, switched between 20/40Mhz and 20Mhz modes, and reset/forgot every network and router probably 20 times last night, to no avail. From 2 feet away.
From what i have read, it appears to be a software glitch; pre-Sept 22 update didnt have the same problem, and the fact it keeps flashing 'incorrect password' and then gives me an authentication error, on fully unprotected networks, leads me to believe it is in fact software related.
Has anyone successfully connected to a router (if so, which one? specifically please), i am going to buy a second router to cover the rest of my house anyways (its big, cinderblock, steel, brick, and mortar with solid doors so WiFi doesn't penetrate very far), and i dont mind waiting for a fix (if its coming) for WiFi.
Its not a big problem because i have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, and i don't use data or surf much (average of 1.5 gigs a month for myself; 4-5 gigs when my girlfriend is home) so i dont actually need WiFi, but i paid for it, and i expected it to work.
As far as the routers I have, my sisters' my now-retired Motorola Atrix 4G, iPhone 4, my girlfriends' Blackberry Bold, my mothers' Kindle Fire, my fathers' iPad 3, and their iPhone 3Gs, three computers, one server, two laptops, and two printers all connect flawlessly. Even my *ancient* HTC Hermes and HTC Kaiser connect just fine, as well as any of our friends or guests devices. My friends' Samsung Galaxy Note also connects just fine (though i do not know which Android version she is using, or if they share the same WiFi chip).
So, in conclusion, how many others have this problem? did you have the same problem before the latest OTA update? and for those of you with no issues, which router models are you connecting to?
I just want this feature to work; we travel a lot, and rely on WiFi to communicate and do business abroad, so i will need it working in the coming weeks, and i would MUCH rather use take the GS3 over my unlocked Atrix.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like a bad phone. Exchange it.

I seem to have stumbled upon a solution, mostly by accident. Even though i had repeatedly reset every variable and security feature, disabled everything and tried probably 20 times, with old and new firmware, i could not get it to connect and was about to return the phone.
Then my father came over with his new iPad; and it wouldnt connect either. I did a factory reset on the router, disabled everything (WPS, WEP/Security, firewall, etc) and both connected, seamlessly, and stayed connected.
Since then, it has connected just fine to any WiFi network; i never changed any advanced features on the phone, and i do not have to utilize the #*1100# trick; the signal is as strong as that of any other wireless devices. I believe there is a glitch or bug somewhere in the software on the SGIII, however, as it had been giving me authentication errors or 'wrong password' errors on completely unsecured networks. After i reset and factory restored the router, all is well. I havent set up security on my network at all, but i have both the iPad 3 and Galaxy S III here to play with, and i will go through different options until i identify what security feature, specifically, each does not work with.
I will attempt to post any errors and log dumps here so perhaps the community can fix it instead of waiting for Google, but i am unsure how to log and post them from the Galaxy S III, any pointers would be great.

Need some help, wifi doesn't work, period. Long.

Not sure how exactly to describe my problem other than my wifi has never worked on my Note 4. I got fed up with it and finally had a replacement device ordered after a 4th trip to the sprint store for service where the last tech finally agreed that the device was defective only to have the same problem with the new phone too. I love the phone and after having the Note 2 for a couple of trouble free years wanted this one to replace it but I'm lost for words right now. We have 3 Galaxy S5's and the Note 4 on the same account, under the same roof, using the same routers, tv's to connect to, etc... all s5's work flawlessly with wifi, and using Allshare on our Samsung Smart tv (which we use a lot) so I know there's no issue with any other equipment and this issue is everywhere I go, not just at home. As far as me knowing what I'm doing, well maybe I'm missing something but I've had Android phones since day one and have been rooting since the Epic 4g (no root on the Note 4) so I'd like to think that I'd catch some kind of setting here plus 4 techs have re-set, updated, double checked, and replaced the phone with no luck. Here's what it does, power the phone up and connect to wifi, no problem, visit website or watch video no problem, super fast like it should be, about a minute later blue circle loading video or load next page and get a could not connect to network or refresh page. At that time I can simply switch wifi off and the page or video will load and be fine. Switch wifi back on same thing, works like a champ for about a minute then nothing. Then there's Allshare, never had a problem with my Note 2, ever, all of our s5's work flawlessly, try to connect my Note 4 and the tv can't detect the phone and the phone can't detect the tv. It will work every so often but only for about 30 seconds and freeze then you can't connect again. One more issue I believe to be having is the gps, I ride a road bike a couple times a week and track my mileage using a bike computer app, sometimes it will track me sometimes it won't at all, and if I use the Navigation I constantly get the "lost gps signal" message. I need some help here, I'm tired of going to the Sprint Store, I just want a phone that works! That bill keeps coming every month and each time I pay it I get pissed off that my 9 year old has a better working phone than me and I have the Next Big Thing. So far its been a big disappointment!
Did you factory reset after lollipop OB7 update?
Check your Wi-Fi and GPS settings. I believe most routers won't allow address conflicts but check your router for connected devices and make sure that isn't happening. Do you restrict wireless to MAC address on your router? Maybe you need to update the trusted MAC table?
May just be a factory reset takes care of the issues. If not, compare settings with the other phones.
Still not working? Try some static IP settings and set DNS to Google. (Long press your router in Wi-Fi networks and select modify, check advanced settings and scroll. You should see the Google DNS servers dimly lit just enter the same numbers) If not, Google it.
I can't compare the s5 to the Note 4 but comparing the Epic to Note 4, Wi-Fi signal strength and speed of connection is much better on the Note 4; I see more Wi-Fi networks, too. I haven't navigated with Note 4 so I can't compare that.

Cellular data loss (radio reboot?)

Hello all,
I am currently attempting to troubleshoot/corroborate apparent issues with the mobile radio. My first device took six or seven attempts to activate, and then intermittently threw a no SIM error with what looks like a radio restart (no signal on any bands, cycle between No Service/Searching 4-5 times before reconnect.)
WiFi appears to be good, I'm only experiencing these drops while connected to LTE with no graceful fallback to 3g or even 1x. Drops are happening while stationary and in motion, frequently in areas where my signal is at least decent. The threads linked above both have users who appear to be having the same problem. Particularly strange is that there dose seem to be a location component, there are two spots in particular that seem to be more likely to cause the problem (though not every time.)
I've replaced the device once already in an attempt to resolve this, and while I initially thought that the issue was resolved, I did manage to catch another drop yesterday after running tests forcing the device in to 3g-only operation (the device performed just fine before, during, and for a few minutes directly after these tests.) Of note, I haven't managed to catch a 'No SIM' message on this replacement phone. I have been running an app to notify me of signal loss today, and of course it seems to be behaving now.
If you've experienced any similar issues, please reply and let me know if you've had luck resolving.
Yep this is what is happening allright.
I have two htc one M7s. My main phones.
Last evening, in a very strange shift from her norm, my woman asked to use MY phone to cruise the net.
Ok so she goes on and fifteen minutes later I get the phone back.
Suddenly, in the middle of refreshing a twitter or facebook, THE WI FI CONNECTION GOES DOWN.
I cant get the thing to reset after shutting it off. I have to go to the ROUTER , turn it off then on.
Five minutes later after ROUTER reboot, it is working again.
It is just the beginning of our story. I have a second phone also same make and model. It is midnight now, some four hours later, and as usual I turn off router before sleep.
I wake up, unplug other phone (not the one from last night) and, swap out the sim card to it (was in phone durring Wi Fi problem).
Now, I switch on the phone, and it comes up with LTE cuz Im on mobile. Then I get the normal "ok" from phone message (system communicating with mobile).
Heres where it gets strange. I get the 3G on top bar. Ok this NEVER happens.
One minute later it says LTE again.
Wtf is happening.
Not mentioning in this story little invisible forces kicked my left leg open as I was waking up. Angry *****es over Hillary.
Same LTE issue here. Just contacted Google Support and rebooted to safe mode. Let see if I have the same problem again tomorrow

I've got a Black 32GB XL on Verizon (Verizon Model) and never have this problem. Any tips on reproducing it? I'd love to help test and see what I can come up with. Only time my phone says no-sim is for like 5ish seconds after boot. And I've only once seen the phone fall to 3g in an area with known strong LTE. My previous note 7 fell off LTE pretty often. Specially when jumping between towers. But my PXL rarely (Once) does.
This has been happening to me on my pixel xl 128gb since the day I got it. I reported it to Verizon and to google. Google said bad sim. Verizon replaced my sim and it didn't change a thing. I can usually get it to reconnect if I toggle cellular data on and off. Please let me know if anyone finds a solution.
This is known as hollow bar. And it happens to certain Nougat phones in certain areas.

General connectivity issues

Hey folks!
I just picked up the BS3 after being generally disappointed for most of a year with the Razer Phone 2. I got the EU version (I guess?) and have been having general issues with the wireless.
Periodically, almost the entire suite of wireless connectivity just drops. My WearOS watch (Ticwatch Pro 2020) will disconnect, and the custom watchface I use via Watchfaces disappears. Wifi usually keeps working so I may not notice the drop right away, but if I'm on my phone's cellular connection, nothing goes through even though it shows signal and LTE. In my car on my way home from work this morning I was on the phone with my captain, and the bluetooth connection to my car started cutting in and out, to the point that I had to turn bluetooth off to finish the call. There was no issue up to that point, while driving and listening to Audible.
I am suspecting/hoping it was user error in setting the device up. I backed up my RP2 to Google Drive, because I didn't want to lose my apps/data (I was mostly hoping my Swype settings and game logins would transfer over, since Swype died and I'm being a luddite, and the games require the hassle of 'transfer IDs') and have my text messages transfer over easily. I think it also possibly transferred the core device stuff like cellular and bluetooth settings as well, though am not sure.
Turning airplane mode on and off seems to 'reset' things and it'll reconnect to stuff, for a while again at least. I noticed I am somehow still getting at least some push notifications on my watch even though it shows as disconnected. I am a firefighter, on AT&T's Firstnet, so am also not sure if maybe the Firstnet bands might be being finnicky with the BS3.
Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!
ETA: I also get the "Xiaomi SIM activation failed" alert every time I restart the phone, and sometimes after reboot the keyboard doesn't load. ? I get the feeling ill need to reflash again, but knowing where I went wrong first would help! Also curious if there is a stock Android ROM because this JoyUI seems a hassle, and I just don't want all the Xiaomi stuff.

Xiaomi Mi 10 LTE - Hotspot issues

Hey guys,
I am having issues with my Xiaomi Mi 10 LTE, where i have been using my hotspot due to the company wifi being down for a whole week and having a lot of issues. Currently i am only able to use my hotspot if i use no security, as with the WPA-2 security it fails to connect to internet or just outright fails to initialise the connection. If i do connect with no security, it fails if i disconnect or if i lock my tablet for a short time and refuses to connect again. I have found a workaround where i can add security and a password, then leave it to initialize the connection... i can't connect to it even with the correct password, but if i change the hotspot to have no security again it will connect fine. I have tried resetting my connection settings and this fixes it for an hour or so and then stops working. I have tried changing from 2.4g to 5g and back, this doesn't work. If i change the sim card slot it works for an hour and then breaks again. I can use the fix of adding a password and removing it but it is generally a massive pain in the a**.
Does anyone have anything they have tried that works as a perminent fix?
Thanks in advance!
Just to add, i am connecting to the hotspot with my Samsung Tab S7+ which has had no isses with other wifi connections and worked on my S7 Phone so i am sure it is the new phone. I have had it a few months but never used the hotspot until now.
I've been having quite a similar issue, and this is the second time I get it on the same model! I guess this is a bug or an hardware problem related to the model. The only thing I noticed working, and it's not a security issue in my opinion, is the position where you keep it! try to holding it in your hand at different inclination , until you find the right position. the one I'm using right now works better when lying on a table, the previous one worked better in a standing, lightly tilted position, as you can see in th eimage
That is insane! I'll have to try a few things and I'll get back with results. Normally my phone is lying down on a table but I'll check a few positions. I have found that screen mirroring seems to have the same effect... as in it doesn't really work. I don't know if it is just data out when the issue arises as I don't have any problems downloading or streaming etc.
