Fingerprint touch controls
This function does not need to verify your fingerprint data to work. All you need to do is to touch or slide your finger on the fingerprint reader and you can enjoy some of the unique conveniences it provides.
On the Settings screen, touch Fingerprint ID. In the Touch and hold gesture area, you can turn on a switch to enable the corresponding function.
Take photo/video: When you are on the camera viewfinder screen, press and hold on the fingerprint reader to take a picture.
Answer call: When you have an incoming call, press and hold on the fingerprint reader to answer the call.
Stop alarm: When an alarm is going off, press and hold on the fingerprint reader to turn off the alarm. In the Slide gesture area, you can turn on a switch to enable the related function:
Show notification panel: Slide down with your finger on the fingerprint reader to access the notification panel, double press to clear notifications, and slide up to hide the notification panel.
Browse photos: When viewing photos full screen, slide left or right with your finger on the fingerprint reader to change between pictures.

Way to unlock phone with fingerprint sensor (Without storing a finger print)

Is there a way to use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone, but not having to keep the finger print stored? Several people use my phone, and I never keep my phone locked because there's nothing secret on there. I find it very useful to use the fingerprint sensor as its int a natural spot when you pick the phone up. But i hate having the phone locked I've tried double tap to wake before and it's always been very spotty. I would like to save my hardware buttons.
No, sorry.

You can have several different user account..
Exactly how many use your phone? Why not store a fingerprint for each one of those users.
Couldn't you just make your screen lock a swipe? Or none? It doesn't use the fingerprint sensor, but it achieves your goal.

Fingerprint app lock only

Hello all,
I'd like to use the fingerprint to lock only specific apps without having a lock screen active.
With other smartphones I can do it, with the P2 seems to be impossible.
In order to activate the fingerprint security, I have to record some fingerprints and that's ok. Then I select the single apps I want to lock.
But, if I disable a lock screen the digits scans are deleted, therefore the fingerprint app lock feature stops working.
In other phones when I disable the lock screen, the app lock function keeps working (fingerprints scans are not deleted).
Is there any workaround ?
I only manager to get partial workaround - I set option that the phone will lock itself after 30 min and I used simple PIN to use it quickly if needed and also I use smart lock so it will not lock that often...

Is there a way to pass the lock screen and go directly to home screen?

Hi All,
New to Samsung phones and upgrading from a Motorola X Pure Edition. The Samsung is an upgrade in many, many ways. It's sophisticated and will make the user feel sophisticated. But it has a few downsides too (camera) but I'm working to get the phone to how I think it should be.
I have Always On Display enabled. But when the phone is not locked, I can double tap on the screen and then instead of going to the home screen, it just goes to the lock screen which I then have to swipe up again for.
This is like passing through two locked gates in order to get to the home screen and this can be annoying. I need to open my phone quick or minimize distractions.
Is there a way to bypass the lockscreen? The fingerprint sensor is not very good and if I have Smart Lock enabled and the phone was turned off but is not locked, it would be great to just double tap on the screen and go directly to the home screen.
Thanks.
I think this is the only way. But keep in mind it will completely disable any kind of lockscreen security.
Yeah, I'm not trying to disable security. Thanks anyway.
I just want to go directly to my home screen when the phone is off but unlocked due to smart unlock.
I had the same problem. Instead of having AOD on all the time I set it to 'tap once' to open AOD, but I realised it's basically a secondary lock screen, so I disabled the AOD completely and just use the lock screen instead, it not only provides more info than the AOD but it's also a lock screen where the AOD is just a novelty and an extra gate. I just double tap to wake the lock screen instead of single tap to open AOD.

I took your advice and turned off AOD. Phone is better this way, and I'm not missing much with the AOD off.
Thanks.

Any solution for fast unlocking

Hi there
I just switched from a Asus Zenfone 5z which has a dedicated fingerprint sensor. So one touch and you ard on home screen.
Now the fingerprint sensor on Note 10 + is slow, also the fact that one has to first click the side key and then put the finger on the screen and seemingly wait for 2 sec.
It is nowhere near as fast as the zenfone 5z.
Have you guys got any better solution or idea to unlock it fast.
Thank you for your time.

You don't exactly have to turn on phone to use fingerprint reader.
If you know the position of fingerprint reader then putting your finger there would turn on and unlock phone. But that would be if you can get it on right position. If not it would tell you and then you can readjust as it will then show you.
Other option would be to have always on display and would show position of fingerprint reader.
You can also double tap to wake up phone as well. Then go through same process.
Hope some others could add more but these has been what I've found out with my usage.

Enable the gesture "lift to wake"
Enable "always on display" so that you always see the finger print location.
What ever finger you use most for the finger print, scan it for 2 spots out of the 4 available. So I have my left thumb for 1, right pointer for 2, and right Thumb for 3 and 4. My right thumb is now always solidly fast.

1. Please clarify : Do you mean to register the same right thumb twice to increase accuracy of the right thumb, as that is what I mostly use.
2. Currently always on display is set as tap to show.
Does making it always show have any significant reduction in battery.
And that you for your time, you are very helpfull.

Didn't even know that I had to just press the locked screen.
Also thank you for recommending the lift to wake up gesture, has increased the speed a lot.
Still wondering if I can use NFC to keep it unlocked as it is always kept on a phone stand.
Many thanks for your time.

You can use Smart lock Trusted places under settings-lock screen to keep phone unlocked. You just have to turn on phone then just swipe to go into phone without password but it will lock after a certain timeframe if not used.

I do know about Smart Lock but prefer not to use it as keeping the GPS on does feed the location data to other apps as well, not something I prefer to give away.
Thank you for the recommendation though.
You can register your face as well. It works really fast with lift to wake up gesture.
Smart lock can be used without GPS on, it uses a trusted wifi network to keep the phone unlocked or, if you have one a bluetooth speaker...
Don't need GPS at all...
Another vote for smart lock but with a wearable like a wear os watch. I pretty much never have to unlock my phone.
In case helpful to someone else, I enabled the increase touch sensitivity setting under Display settings and the fingerprint seems to work much quicker as I don't have to press down harder.

#1 YES
#2 It's a 4300mah battery, the AOD doesn't even dent it.
Happy to help!
I have AOD set to always on, and it is super easy to unlock.
I pick up the phone, hold my thumb on the sensor and it is unlocked instantly. I don't see how it could get any better than that!

Hi, I did turn it on after reading your post, enabled my location with GPS off and wifi connected but it doesn't work.
Is there anything special I need to do in this regard.
Thanks

Yes I turned ut on as well as the phone comes with a factory applied screen protector and that is what that setting seems to be for. Should have been on by default.

Finger print/face ID and swipe to unlock.

Hello all,
I have my note 10 plus setup to unlock with finger print and or face ID. The annoying part is that after "unlocking" the phone using the finger print reader or face ID I still have to "swipe to open". Is there a way to bypass this extra step.
On my mate 30 pro I get straight into the phone after unlocking using face or finger print ID.
Cheers,
Yves
