I'm curious if you ever found an answer to your question. I obviously prefer my 5gzh signal when I'm within range. I am looking to purchase one of these phones very soon.

My Blade V8 Pro connects to 5GHz WiFi without any issues (Linksys E6400 router).

it works

just change the channel in the router, ch 48 in band 5gHz works for me

make sure your router is in a supported channel. as stated above. the channels it supports is not as wide as some of the routers out there.

How to connect Dualband WIFI?

Does anyone managed to use an 802.11ac dualband wifi?
I just purchased that kind of router and set output for 2 bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
I tried giving both 2.4Ghz band and 5GHz the same SSID name but that didn't work so I separated them so now I can see on my Xperia Z3 compact both 5 and 2.4 wifi names on the list but I can only connect one of them..
If I'm connected to 5G and I simply press the connect option on the 2.4G it switches to the 2.4 and disconnect the 5..
Is there something special that should be setup to make it work?
You don't connect to both bands at the same time. Just use 5ghz for devices that support it and 2.4 for the rest.
Really?? So why does it called dual?
My laptop supports 802.11n with 5GHz so they are the same?
There is Hardware that can use both bands at the same time, but that doesnt mean your Smartphone can do this too.
gsmarena clearly says it supports 802.11ac dual-band
http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z3_compact-6538.php
Can you please explain how do you understand that it can't support real 802.11ac
Dual band here means 2,4 or 5. Ac is commonly used at 5ghz. You are asking for simultanious dual band. This is available, but you need special hardware for this.
Dual band means, your device support both frequency 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac mean standards (speed), you can't connect to both network to the same time.
it's work on sony xperia z?
5,8Ghz is different frecuency. Imho, no android devices have 5,8Ghz wifi.

Okay I think I got it now thanks for the clarification.

Well it really depends on your location. Other unlocked phones may give you better coverage because there available bands/frequencies, they may have more supported bands on your network. Myself..I'm missing volte band and I'm getting only 1 lte band. On mi mix 2 I have 4 lte bands. Are you referring to voice or data when you say coverage. How many lte bands does your carrier support for your device

i also get worse network signal than with my redmi note 3.
hope it gets better with custom roms and maybe firmware gets better
try china rom gives best network stability

5GHZ WiFi not detected

I recently bought a dual-band Linksys Archer A5 in Germany which only shows bands 36-64 in settings. Only my old Asus Padfone X (unlocked AT&T model) connects to the 5GHZ band. My Nex S (global), Huawei P10 and my son's P9 Plus don't even see it. But my Mi Mix 2 (chinese rom) sees it but won't connect and when I force it, it won't reconnect automatically. Even the WiFi Analyzer app doesn't see it on those phones. But my two Chinese TV boxes and my Lenovo tablet (US model) connect automatically.
Any ideas or a workaround? Any help is much appreciated.

Network Band Frequency

HI,
I operate a Note Pro 5 in the UK on the plusnet network which uses the following bands / frequency's. I use the global ROM
800MHz band, the 1800MHz band, the 2100MHz band
Iam not having much luck with the 4G speed / connection. Iam wondering if that's because the handset does not work with these bands. No point reformatting my phone only to find out if the phone does not work with these bands !!!
Thanks
Mathew
It should work fine, as they use EEs network. I use virgin mobile that also uses EEs network and its fine. Have you tried amending the APN settings?

Yes you are correct Virgin and Plusnet both run off EE but its not that simple.
EE only allow some bands to be avalible for resale the ones I have listed are what Plusnet use.
You have pointed out something I should have done!!!! I have removed the APN and started from scratch I will try this for a few days and see what happens.

So from what I've read plusnet don't seem to offer the 800mhz frequency (EE/virgin do), but if your Redmi Note 5 is the global version it will work with all UK 4G bands (including 800 or band 20 if its available from your provider). Usually band 20/800mhz travels further and so tends to be used more in rural areas to help improve coverage. Were you connecting to 4g OK before or have you just changed to plusnet or just got your RN5?

Yes I thought that but have had conformation directly from Plusnet that they do use the 800mhz range
@MathewRB
Global version of Redmi Note 5 supports all frequences You mentioned. The only problem is that it doesn"t support carrier agregation (LTE+) which can lead to slow data acces when the transmitter which Your"s phone is connected to is clogged

This really interesting has that problem been resolved with the Note 7 Pro?
@MathewRB
Yes it has. As far as i know Note 7 support LTE+ 2CA and pro version is 3CA

Thats a good bit of information looks like Iam finding more and more of reason (excuse) to upgrade to the 7 Note Pro. But when is the 8Note Pro due to come out any idea?

Very bad reception with my note 10+

Hello everyone.
New owner of a note 10+ exynos, I notice that the reception of the signal which was 4 bars with my xiaomi mi9 fell to 1 bar with the note 10+.
It's super annoying to see that a phone at this price works less than a xiaomi no?
Here are the features of the phone:
Base band : N975FXXS1ASJ2
Kernel : 4.14.113-16926798
Software : SAOMC_SM-N975F_OGC_FTM_PP_0011
Does anyone have that kind of problem and I can solve it?

I have 2 potential answers.....1st is that both phones are getting the same signal strength in db's, I've seen some people report that....the note (exynos) just is representing the signal strength with less bars...but actual signal strength is the same.
2nd answer are there any missing bands on the note that your carrier uses? Have you confirmed that all your carrier bands are supported by the note?
Again check db levels and recheck band support.

Signal bars are really inaccurate
1) does the phone support the primary band for you carrier, if not you bought the wrong phone(or have wrong carrier)
2) put the two hones side by side and run speedtest.net on both. Bars are Placebos, trust bandwidth tests.

First, thanks for all these answers. I will look for an application that will give me the power level and put it on both phones. I'll be right after
Edit :
So, this iss the result :
Note 10+ =
Sim1 Free : Connection Edge only : -107 dBm
Sim2 SFR : Connection 4G : - 140 dBm
Pocophone =
Sim1 Free : Connection Edge only : -96 dBm
Sim2 SFR : Connection 4G : -84 dBm
We can see that the signal force is note the same at all
i also verified the band :
B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B4 (1700/2100 AWS 1), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900)
Free is on 900 and 1800
SFR is on 900, 1800, 2600
Hi,
Free uses 2600 MHz too.

You can't compare them if they are not using the same network (both 4G).
Free with 2G (Edge) uses "roaming" Orange carrier antennas, not theirs, since they don't have the licence to exploit 2G networks.
You need to check which antennas you are connected to for both carriers and using the same network.
The RNC Mobile app can help to figure it out.

I already use the same network, you can see it :
Note 10+
Sim2 SFR : Connection 4G : - 140 dBm
Pocofone
Sim2 SFR : Connection 4G : -84 dBm
It's clear that with same network , there are very big difference !
I think that note 10+ connect to band 20 and Antenna in my country is more powerfull in Band 3.Bbut with the menu "servicemode" it is possible to change the band and force band 3 (1800) but I tried the codes found on google and it does not work on the note 10 ..
I may have opened another topic for that .. ?
I can second that. Changed from a Pocophone to a Note+ this week.
Never had signal issues with the pocophone. Now with the Note 10+
I have between 102 and 115dBm.
Network: TMobile Austria.
Very dissapointing.
My one plus 6t gets better signal for me as well.
Better than all my notes and S10.
I digged a little deeper yesterday by using signal analyzing tool and for me it looks like the problem is that the Note does not connect to the nearest "Cell tower". This seems to be the case when I am in my office and when I am at home as well.
Since I have absolutely no clue about cell/signal handling etc. my research journey will come to an end here. Maybe someone with more skills in this regards can pick this up and see if it is correct.
I also found this thread at Samsung community forum:
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Note10/Note-10-Plus-Signal-Signal-Issues/td-p/815987
I went from a Sony Xperia XZ with fabulous reception to my Note 8 which was really poor. After 2 years with the Note 8 my new Note 12 Plus 5G has noticeably better receptlon. Whether it's the best out there is debatable but it's certainly an upgrade on the Note 8 when it comes to reception.
I have a N975F. Im using it on T-mobile in the US. I understand this device wasnt made to be used here, but I also have the same issue.
I put my Note 10 Plus 5g next to it, and the signal strength of the Exynos model isnt that good. I also tested it next to an s10 plus, same results. Also, data speeds arent as fast as its snapdragon counterparts.
Could it be because of its SAR? Samsung always got one of the lowest I knew: 0.19 W/kg (head), 1.40 W/kg (body).
I have A 975F, if I set auto selection of network, It ALWAYS chooses 4G, even if 3G or 2G have stronger signal levels, for this reason, I keep it in 3G, which always has the max level, I use 2G/3G setting when for road travels(some 500-800 km) and 4G only when I need data connections , my device is carrier branded and I use it precisely with its asociated carrier, so it works flawlessly wherever I go in my country Mexico, which by no means is little in extension
