How is the Butterfly life going? - HTC Butterfly 3

Are the problems solved?
I lost mine last may and I f-ing miss it so much. They're actually £100 more expensive now than when I bought one!
Gotta use my old One X for now and it's driving me mad!
Anyone got something half decent to sell? Or anyone wanna sell their butterfly?

Hi Gixermouse, i have bunch of broken ones lol, this is my 3rd... I got discount from seller in Japan so it's 30% cheaper than my first one. I think Kyoto, Japan guy still has them. I think current price is aprox 350 usd.
Btw, I use now LG V30 which has snappy screen and better longer battery life - but lacks IR blaster, less water resistant (experience, not numbers), bad front camera, slippery toy. That Butterfly 3 was really ahead of its' time, and it's such pity they didnt make Butterfly 4 with some newer snapdragon and 40 Mpixels camera LOL

International One x Purchase

Ok so i plan on purchasing an htc one x in the coming week because its cheaper and after owning 3 samsung devices in a row (nexus s, s2, gnex) i'd like a different experience. Would love to hear some user experiences from owners.
It does not suck.
Longtime Samsung guy here because until the One X I really really (did I mention really) disliked HTC's build quality and industrial design (and I was an HTC user by default since back in the Compaq iPaq days all the way through the Touch).
Still not impressed with HTC's QC (at least on the batches that were initially shipped), and while the materials "feel" is a big reason why I opted to replace my SGS2 and Note with the One X, I'm not happy with the durability; the matte surface shows wear easily, the frame around the bezel can be deformed with a fingernail and I had to return 3 units to CPW in 3 days before I got a "good" one that didn't have yellow spots or flicker or a screen that was lifting out of the chassis.
That said, it's a pleasure to actually use. The screen is great, the performance is excellent (even more so with custom kernels), it still feels good in the hand, battery life is adequate, and having a 32GB gray Tegra model is nice, since the only Canadian models you can find are locked white 16GB units (did I also mention I really really dislike white phones?).
All in, since I bought an unlocked one right after launch from Carphone Warehouse in the UK (and I still haven't seen my VAT refund, you lying bastards!) it cost me almost $800 CAD and I don't regret it, just wish it was a bit more aesthetically durable. It'd be even less of a regret these days when you can pick up a NIB Tegra unit for under $600.
Especially don't regret it after getting hands-on time with the SGS3 (I'm back in the UK on business again). Samsung lost me with the tacky styling, and the performance isn't that much better than the One X in things that matter to me personally (I'm not a handset GPU fanatic) to make up for that massive industrial design failure. And it turns out I can get by with non-removable storage and battery after all.

WTF?! Anker 1900mAh battery now $48 instead of $10?

What's up with the price change? Is there anything justifying the 470% price increase?????
Other than greed, I mean...
Anker battery, sold by 'authorized seller' on eBay; not even ten bucks:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-1900mAh-Battery-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-II-i9100-/220813288199
Same battery sold by same seller, much MUCH more expensive now:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-1900mAh-Battery-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-II-i9100-/330747106855
What's up with that? is it because the I9100 will be "phased out" or something? Isn't there an installed customer base huge enough for these guys to continue selling their batteries at an affordable price? I'm flabbergasted.....
-=-=-=-=-=-= Edit:
After having looked around a bit, to my great surprise, I was able to find this at $9 on Amazon.ca. I was VERY surprised since we, in Canada, rarely get the same deals as in the US... we always get milked with more expensive products, even of our dollar is at par with the US dollar. But this time, the price was the same.
Now the funny thing is, the Amazon.com and .ca seller is the SAME as on eBay; so he sells these babies $47 on eBay and less than ten bucks on Amazon. I do not understand it one bit....
wanted to buy this battery about a week or 2 ago and saw those prices on ebay, no idea why it increased that much so would like to hear if someone know

Your best bet is now Amazon.com or Amazon.ca... If you are luckily to be in the USA or Canada.
Other than that, the eBay prices are absolutely grotesque... :-\
NEW ROM will arrive people will buy NEW BATTERY instead of changing phone ! (It`s a 2 year old phone so battery will not last as new)
It's back down to $12 now, but I'd say they were low on stock so they jacked up the price for the last one or two units to avoid running out. Many online sellers do this for some reason, I guess selling out looks bad.

[Q] To buy or not to buy...this is the question

Hi.
I want to get a new phone and one of the contenders is the Xperia Z1 compact.
I usually read a lot before buying a new phone about possible problems the phone might have.I did read a lot this time too.
So my question for all of you is:
Is this a good phone, is it worth my money or should i go with something else?
I read about water damaged phones, screen cracking by itself, usb flap giving up after 3 weeks and other minor problems.
I would like a waterproof phone to be waterproof, and now i am not sure what to do.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.
I've had it for just over two months, and I constantly use the USB port to charge it. The flap is a little more difficult to close now, but still looks to be sealed. I haven't dropped it in water, but I've spilled on it a couple times and cleaned it and there are no issues whatsoever. It's an excellent phone, after installing a custom ROM everything works extremely well. Before that it worked wonderfully as well, but I wanted to customize it a little more. I would maybe recommend waiting for the Z3 Compact since that's coming out in a little while, and it looks to be strictly better than the Z1C.
The Z3 compact will probably cost much more than the Z1.The Z1 is now approx. 200 euro and I guess the Z3 will cost somewhere around 500, so the difference is too big for me .
the new z3 compact will not be so compact anymore, so keep that in mind
Personally I bought this phone because it is the best hardware packed in a screen less than 4.5
And now they decided to give it more screen space which can compete with s4 and all those kinda tablet phones.
If I had to buy a small phone now I wouldn't buy z3c for any reason. Maybe a moto e but not this giant 'compact'

If you can buy the Z1c for about 200, do it! IPersonally I haven´t seen it that cheap anywhere! its an excellent phone, fast, good battery life.
Don´t trust it to be waterproof, read too many accidents.
I bought de DK32 dock to avoid stressing the usb flap with opening it for every charge.

I could have sworn the Z3C was the same size, or very close, just with thinner bezels? I'm pretty sure I saw them side by side and they looked like they had the same dimensions.
I was going to touch on the price as well, but I didn't think it would be that much higher. I bought my Z1C for 389 USD unlocked, and that was a great price for me. 500 Euros does sound really steep though.
Go for it if you're OK with screen size. I am a new user, bought the phone brand new for 350 euros just a few days ago.
The only thing - and I mean THE only thing - I am not happy about is the rather small screen. I was deciding between various screen sizes and given that my eyesight is rather weak with growing age, I kinda wonder if a 5+-inches screen wouldn't be better for me.
I still have the option of returning the phone, but of course in the meantime I fell in love with it Almost everything about it suits me. I especially appreciate the microSD slot. I wonder if I went for a Galaxy Note device how would I feel then...Never had a 'phablet' in my hands...
Happy
I bought the Z1C unlocked about a month ago for $350 (!) US. Best purchase I've made on a phone or PDA going back to the first Compac PDA. And $400 LESS than I paid for my last phone. I suggest you look around for bargains. The source for my Z1C sold out in 24 hours. But with the Z3C having been announced, the Z1C may drop in price quickly.
I'm extremely happy with this phone. Very fast; no real bugs in the software. And, unlike my last phone, I am using it without any modifications to the OS (that will come after the warranty period and after Sony stops updating the OS ). My only complaint, and it is based only on the warnings I've read here, is the supposed susceptibility to scratches on both the front and back. For that reason, I added an applique to the back and a glass screen protector to the front. Never used either (or a case) on my last phone over a 3-1/2 year period. That phone had no scratches on the front when I gave it away. But that issue is not great enough to warn you off this phone, especially if you can find it for under $400US.
Good luck with your search.
Here is a comparison between them. I would say paying extra 300$ just for the thinner design and a 801 proc instead of 800 is not worth it.
No Brainer
So far I can't fault it.
Smaller footprint than my Xperia T I feel more comfortable with it in my pocket.
I just got me a bargain on Z1 Compact £18 /month Free handset 500 mins X network unlimited texts and 500MB Data on O2 for 2 years.
Mrs Got the Z1 not too long after release date and I liked the specs but not the size. When compact was released I knew this would be the next phone.
This is my personal preference but I find all the larger phones to be just too big.
If I go with it I have to pay 13 Euros a month(I am doing it anyway ) and the phone would be around 190 Euros.

F240k from Ebay - worth it?

Looking for an unlocked phone around $100. Looking at a seller on Swappa who does LG G2's for $99 but used. I've recently stumbled across an eBay seller with brand new LG G Pro's F240k's for $109 or so. Is it worth getting the LG G Pro in new condition for US MetroPCS usage? I know I'd be missing out on LET but is it worth getting it today?
I would see what else you could get for this price range. My main sell point for this phone was the home led light which I love (most unique I've ever seen before), but other things upset me. I expected the camera to be on par with G2's, but it's not at all. Really wasnt much of an upgrade from my galaxy s2. GPS is also a little funky from 2 different phones I've tested on, however with a little disassembly I was able to improve mine. Besides that, the phone is great (enough cpu, enough battery) but if those 2 things happen to be sell points for you, I would get a G2. A G2 is definetly better than this phone though, the reason I didnt get it was because I didnt like the power button on back design. It feels awkward to me

That helps for sure. I have a Kyocera Hydro Wave for Metro PCS which was free (thank god because it blows) but needs to be replaced. The last flagship phone I had was a Note 3 when they first came out. The G Pro on eBay is brand new but the G2 is used. Thoughts on that? Any camera would be better than this piece of junk lol.

Battery replacement make a difference?

I bought my Pixel XL last year used and its been a great phone but lately the battery life has become ridiculously bad. I'm guessing it has to do with the battery age, which is understandable. I have a quote to replace the battery for about $100 and was wondering if anyone saw any drastic difference in replacing their battery? I'm really on the fence about whether its worth replacing it or just getting a new phone. Unfortunately the Swappa seller sold me what looks to be a Verizon version even though they said it was unlocked as I cant unlock the bootloader. This is weighing on me as I kept my oneplus one for 4 years because I was able to flash custom roms. I'm worried about this being a dead phone update wise but figure if I can get the battery replacement now it would probably give me another year of use.
I replaced the battery myself, but mine is an unlocked variant and doing the work myself means I spent 20€ instead of 100.
Your situation is a bit tougher, but the difference in battery life is surely worth it. I can go a full day easily now with more than 4 hours SOT and I don't even have the XL!
Hmmm, $100, at that price I'd rather do it myself or move to another phone. However, if you did replace it, the jump in battery performance would be noticeable.
If your in the US, I'd get the battery off ebay. I just did this replacement on my Pixel XL and it has given it new life. It was dying anywhere from as soon as I took it off the charger to about 40%. It wasn't that bad before but gradually has gotten worse until I said fk it it's time to get a new phone or replace the battery. I spent about 20 bucks total, this included roughly $13 for the battery and $7 for the precut screen adhesive which in my opinion is worth it to give it a OEM like seal. All the Chinese replacement batteries that include adhesive is only for the battery not the screen so it's basically pointless because most of not all of the time the adhesive below the battery will still be in great condition so it doesn't need to be touched. All this crap about replacing the battery is hard is BS. Just watch a few of the YT videos guides a few times and give it a go. I would not use a razor blade to start to lift the screen initially unless you are very confident you won't scuff the metal around it. I scuffed my a little but it wasn't really noticable. If use playing cards after you hear the screen with a hair dryer or heat gun. This will take you a roughly 1 hr to do yourself. You can Pm me if you need more help with installing. This has saved me a lot because I was debating the OP7 pro or new battery. I'm lucky enough to be able to hold off for the next gen pixel or OP8 for now.
