if you want a more stock version then this should be fine (i haven't tested this though), i personally prefer lineage 18.1, but you won't get VoWIFI or VoLTE if you choose lineage.

Honor 6x 2017 android 7 emui 5 - Is it possible to install TWRP?

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to have a final answer on : it is possible to install TWRP and use it to root the honor 6x on android 7 and emui 5 (without downgrade) ?
- I've unlocked bootloader ;
- I've installed adb/fastboot ;
- I've installed drivers ;
- I've enabled debugging USB and OEM ;
- I've reboot on fastboot ;
- I've flash recovery with every TWRP since version 3.
But never could access TWRP only eRecovery of emui, when restart with every combination of volume buttons and power, so, ..., I'm doing wrong ?
If there is a kind guy who can make a simple, and definitive (for the moment) answer, that would be awesome
What version of EMUI ? what the version of recovery ?
Be sure to have xxxB360 emui 5 / recovery openkirin version 3.1.x and it will work ...

maybe you could reconnect it after entering the TWRP.
I have not to try. the FAQ just says that when you hold volume+ and power buttons, if connecting to computer, it will enter eRecovery mode, and if unconnecting, will enter recovery mode.

Yeah my bad, I've write the new build number from my downgrade fresh install, sorry, the old I've not keep it.
By saying no in the last part of your message you mean : that I should NOT re-upgrade? Cause my downgrade version work (it's rooted)?
All unlocked, and I can't give you the build number cause I've downgrade and don't keep the old build number.
Actually is BLN-L21C432B151, I can re-upgrade to Nougat (and I prefer Nougat) but it was not working on nougat and it's working on Marshmallow so I've choose to root over the design/functionality/... But if you know why it was not working and can put me on the good path by telling me that I've miss a part or something I will give (probably, if your sure) a try
I mean that I've choose to downgrade to have a root device than can't root and keep nougat.
The problem after successfully flash twrp to recovery, directly reboot with vol up and power was prompt erecovery of emui.
Ok thanks for your answers

[ ROOT ] Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G Android 9 Pie with Magisk Canary Release

Take it your own risk! Tested on Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G with Android 9 Pie, It may be works on SM-J730GM and SM-J730F
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5
2. Install Magisk Manager Canary Release app-release.pk on your phone. In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a FileSelect the AP tar file. Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar.
3. Copy the tar file to your PC
4. Enter Download Mode : Press and hold Volume Down key + Home Key, while pressing these keys Press and hold Power key, Release all key when Download / Odin mode appears. Connect your Samsung Galaxy to PC using USB Cable and Press Volume Up key.
5. Flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in ODIN
6. In Option make sure to ticked F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot only
7. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device!The device will automatically reboot.* for the first time it needs more time.. just wait and be patient!
8. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. The following steps will need internet connection.
9. If you can not see Magisk Manager in your phone, you need to install the APK manually. it will automatically upgrade to the full
10. Magisk Manager when you open it.Magisk Manager will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.
Updated:
I have tested flashing magisk_patched.tar as AP in ODIN by ticked F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot only. It means we don't need to Wipe data / Factory reset. It looks like flashing official rom normally.

I don't know what you mean "This action unlock oem" on your quote there are 3 points: Rooting, Security Notice and Video Link.
1. this thread rooting with magisk canary release
2. Security Notice it may be appear after root it
3. Video link is a video how to root it completely.
So, no one of its for unlocking OEM that you asking.. If you look for unlocking OEM, I suggest you use Miracle Box tools for by passing 7 days. I also have created a video to unlock OEM using miracle box for J7 Pro only.

I did not test the execution of this method of root. I currently have root since version 7 and 8.
First question you need to have oem unlock.
If you do not have this option you probably will not be able to install twrp and magisk.
i using j730G using custom pie magisk and twrp. My kernel is helios kernel
I do not go back to the official samsung version exactly because of the blockade of oem among other things that samsung is inventing.
oh god so im blocked in official pie no twrp i m very idiot to instal stock pie.
after root internal memory is almost full
I instaled TWRP in pie stock after I instal custum rom all work only no sim card and when I instal in Odin stock rom sim card work. Why in custom rom don't work?
