Now, I know there was a bit of confusion in regards to the details Telus posted on the page itself...
They're fairly anti-competitive towards Wind and Mobilicity in Canada, which is why the T-Mobile variants of many popular devices they have been snatching up - for example they have the HTC Ruby exclusively.
So the obvious question is: is the listing of AWS a total mistake on their part? or does this truly have AWS band radios?
If this is the case however, thank God cuz this will save me a lot of time and money trying to get the device! That and Telus doesnt brand their devices like T-Mobile does which is a huge bonus for someone like me who hates carrier brandingon the front of a beautiful piece of kit (which is something T-Mobile is very fond of doing)

it's a true AWS phone, it was designed for T-mobiles, which is why i was so shocked when Telus picked it up

Awesome, if it does have AWS that would make this a pretty flexible phone

this just in the Telus version of the SGS2

By far the best version looks way better than euro one sorry but I hate physical buttons they get worn out

I really hope this has the Wolfson DAC. The Yamaha in the SGS2 is ****. I love my SGS2 but the Audiophile side of me wants to smash it. The only thing the Bell SGS2 is missing is Wolfson.

Rogers is also coming out with its own flavour of the SGS2

Any ideas as to when Telus is releasing this?

supposedly on the 19th!
exactly next week same day (wednesday)
i can't wait to get mine
that's only if they are not too expensive

Telus only picked it up exclusively so our AWS carriers (Wind/Mobilicity/Videotron) could not get it. Typical anti competitive practice from Telus.

Telus no contract price I'm guessing $599-$649

at $599 i'll probably take it
at $649 no way.... some people even said it might even be $670 (669)
because if i buy it from USA $529.99 + next day shipping aprox $70 it adds up to just about the same as $599

Where can we buy it from T-Mobile USA and have it shipped to us here? eBay?

It's here... and it's very nice!
They became available on the Telus site on Oct. 28 for $599 (no contract). My local Telus franchisees weren't going to get them until mid-next-week, but I called my local FutureShock in the early afternoon and they had received about 16 units, by courier, that very morning. An hour later, I had one in my hand. So, as much as I hate to do it, kudos to FutureShock.
I've been using it for a couple of days and I don't think I have any complaints so far. To me, it's what an Android phone *should* be, this being my second Android device (not counting 2 Android-based eReaders).
Apparently, it is AWS and can be unlocked to use any carriers' SIM card/network.
Nice phone. Battery is 200mAh more than the other Galaxy II models and the battery life has impressed me. I used it fairly constantly (mostly on WiFi) for a good 8 hours without having charged the battery before it started to complain about needing a charge.
Fast as snot, feels like quality construction, lovely display, reportedly Gorilla glass front, tons of memory/storage (16GB), supports up to 32GB microSD in empty slot, extra juicy battery, ICS in the works,... what's not to like? (I'll let you know when I find out!)

Does it have any bloat?

The only bloat is the standard Samsung apps / customization. I don't see anything Telus specific beyond the wallpaper. The wallpaper was gone before I got back to my car.

Damnit, local Telus won't sell without a plan/contract.

FOR USA: HTC Desire $520 incl FedEx via Handtec UK (requires Customs) or $639 fromUSA

I've switched this post around: Initially I was making a suggestion for USA residents about where to buy an unlocked Desire for use in USA (EXPANSIS-usa.com). That changed when I got a recommendation below to buy from a UK vendor (HANDTEC) for $100 less, including the cost of FedExing from UK to USA.

From USA Vendor, avoids Customs, costs more: $639 + $17 for 2 day FedEx
Expansys USA ships from state of Illinois:
BUT ALSO, APPLY COUPON CODE and get $15 off: (that's $624 USD)

FedEx is really cheap for 2-day and 1-day. These costs get erased by that coupon!
I called the phone number on their website to conform all of this: it was 1am here in San Francisco, and I figured they were closed because they operate in USA out of Illinois. But call went through to UK office which was staffed. I confirmed cost, and the FedEx charges. I asked when are these shipping? She said they will ship from Illinois in 3 days from now. That is approx April 3rd... and with 1-day FedEx it's *possible* ( can't ever rely fully on this), I can get one in my hands by April 4th. We shall see!)
(Their price for the HTC LEGEND is $539.99 )

Yeah, I read some of the pricing people were getting this for. But I ended up having to pay $500 for my GSM Hero back in October 09, and that was the best price I could find... so, relative to that, $625 doesn't seem that off. Especially if it truly gets delivered to me in that time frame. And lest we forget, the USA is totally f&#!ed when it comes to cell industry. There's always a new way to f* you over... Also, I am pretty sure the unlocked Nexus One was (and still is) costing about $600 USD. I'd pay extra $25 for the superior optical trackball.
Hey besides!
How come nobody ever makes it super clear: HERE IS WHERE TO BUY IT THE CHEAPEST? Sheesh. This is the largest crowd-source smartphone community on earth, and I only read this AFTER I buy mine? NOTHING IS EVER TRULY RELEVANT IS IT ISN'T INFORMATION-DESIGNED!
Of course I am not shouting at you. I am shouting at the site at large. You;d think they'd have this as a section in Marketplace Forum. No, you;d be wrong. This whole site lacks the most basic information design when it comes to buying product. Which makes us (or most of us) a bunch of sheep... when instead we should have massive buying power, getting even BETTER deals -- the XDA rate... grumble grumble grumble. Yeah sure, I should do a general search on the site everyday for "HTC Desire buy best price" and just hope someone somewhere posted in a logical way that made it easy to find... grumble grumble grumble...
But you're right... So, better late than never...

Ha...and I just sent you a PM about this matter. About my signature, it's all good
Excuse my ignorance, but what good is a European Desire in the USA? Granted, it will work on GSM and WiFi, but not 3G as far as I know. And that would be a major disadvantage, I think.

Good question. To some people, 3G speed isn't a deal-breaker. Yes it is nice to have, but the area I live in just got 3G a couple of weeks ago. So, I have been running EDGE speeds on an iPhone for almost a year
Everything else works perfectly and when it is all said and done, the most important feature is being able to make calls, which an unlocked device can do.

mroek -- it's a very good question. The same one I wrestled with when I bought my European GSM Hero. But there were 4 factors that "sold" me on doing this:
(1) I am a T-Mobile USA customer and they did not offer the Hero (I think they had deals with Motorola for the Cliq and prob had a deal with Google to not carry the Hero,so that t-Mo USA would then get exclusivity for Nexus One -- this is how it all works). So if I wanted the Hero, I had to suck it up. But looking at what t-Mobile offered on their 3-G network in USA? mytouch? forget it. Cliq? I looked at it and tried it -- awful and cheap feel. An older G1? So factor 1: Carrier constraints, and my desire to have the Hero and SenseUI
(2) Battery Drain -- The more I read, the more I learned over and over that 3G usage drained battery at hugely faster rates than 2G access.. And this was a huge mitigator for me... But only when coupled with #3 ...
(3) 70%of the time, maybe 80% of the time, I am at a wifi spot, and so 3G is utterly irrelevant in 70-80% of my usages. And 90% of the rest of my usages are in the car... And frankly, I am fine with 2G using Opera Mini to stay in touch with email... I;'m surely not going to browse CNN or BBC when driving. The other small percentage is walking around. Similarly, I don't need constant connectivity in my life... So, based on the largest argument being "who cares about 3G when I have wifi that blows it away anyway?", I was fine with that decision, and happy that someone pointed it out to me.
(3b) Eventually, in October or Nov 09 Telus of Canada was set to offer the Hero on a GSM network... I was a day or two away from ordering my Hero from Europe, and quickly investigated. Nope. Only offering 3G on the ATT network in USA.
(4) So many reports from places across the nation in USA would say "Yeah, I have 3G, theoretically -- when I can connect, and when I am in a zone where I get that reception"... with many complaining that in NYC for exmaple, they rarely could make use of 3G.
So, all of those same reasons apply in this case.
I really think the whole 3G/ 4G thing has been such a marketing hype ... 3-4 years ago Google proposed to City of San Francisco to let them provide the whole city with free wifi coverage everywhere. Who do you think intervened in the 11th hour to prevent the Mayor from accepting this offer -- which actually had an emergency communication system advantage in addition to convenience and "digital divide" access argument?
Right. AT&T and Verizon. Damn if a competing pipeline is going to crap on their carefully guarded profit structure. But the dam is cracking. Google's selling of the Nexus One any bypassing the carriers is another volley in the battle for FREEDOM OF CHOICE in bandwidth providers, with no special protections given to huge telcos (who happen to also spy on all US citizens at a fiber optic hub here in SF, but that's another story). AT&T was negotiating with Google to get the Nexus One next, with an AT&T rate plan, but they dicked around so long and probably insisted on a ridiculous percentage of subsidy from Google for the cost of the phones that Google finally said F*** IT, we don't give a **** about your rate plans, we are now offfering the Nexus One on AT&T 3G bands for anyone who wants to buy this phone. LOSER: AT&T
So, these are my arguments why it is very smart to get the phone I want -- vs -- play hostage to USA carriers who are always dicking people around.

I just ordered 2 capacitive styluses (i will not say STYLI like some purist Latin speakers will)... from the alleged savings of $100... however, when speaking to live agent on chat, they could not, would not tell me what I am likely to pay in custioms charges. Can YOU tell me?
Is it a percentage of the cost of goods? If so, i am just trying to see if i come out ahead, still, or about the same after paying customs charges.... grrrr
Thanks for explaining! Here in Norway 3G is pretty widespread and works almost everywhere, but apparently that's not the case in the USA.

USA = backwards in many ways**. Isn't it interesting that it has taken just this past decade for the BIG SECRET to be revealed? Thanks to Bush destroying America thru policy, and Fox News destroying America by neuro-conditioning half our population to become retarded war-mongers who consistently vote against their own self interest out of sheer stupidity and manipulation, the Matrix has had a break, and the world has seen the big great USA for what it is -- a has-been.
And yes, I will be getting a Soviet-era-style knock on my door any moment now for bad propaganda... (This of course is why I love XDA -- a world community, free of 50% American retards.. There, I said it for you)
--
**and by contrast Norway is a world leader in mobile tech. Isn't it true that all of you are richer than the Sultans of Saudi Arabia? ... okay, just kidding... But hats off to your country for maintaining its high degree of innovation. One day I will return.. All I got was 2 days in Oslo, but at least I saw the Vigeland sculpture garden
Behold ! Picture of the capacitive stylus / AND EDITORIAL ON VOICE RECOGNITION
FYI, Handtec is also selling these; though shipping is just as much as the stylus itself!
QUESTION: HAS ANYONE here ever used one of these styluses on your other Android devices? if so, how well does it work? I want it for Quick Notetaking, which I can do faster by hand than typing.
BTW: I'll say one thing which Windows Mobile never gets credit for: They've have very decent handwriting character recognition for about 5 years. I used it on my T-Mobile MDA (Windows Mobile 5) , then my T-Mobile Wing (Windows Mobile 6).
In addition, their Voice Commander was working just fine since 4-5 years ago, with voice tags you could record for each of your contacts... which then registered PERFECTLY when you spoke out "call Steve" ... It was smart & simple then, and it's still smart & simple now... YET it's all got to be 100% Speech Recognition now.
I would WAY prefer recording my own voice tags... Even with 200 contacts, even 500 contacts, it's 100% perfect, doesn't screw up, ever. Yet we're told these Android phones have to wait for Android 2.x to get voice features. That's just plain foolish, no, further, retarded. Why can't someone write a simple Voice Command app that does exactly what the original WM app did? That would provide 90% of the everyday Voice Recognition functionality people want most: "CALL so and so" ..
As for VOICE SEARCH: Okay, yes, I see its value, but if it's for Directory Listings only, it's far easier to use GOOGLE-411, call and get listings and keep your eye on the road, or elsewhere. (I'm told Google launched this service just as an R&D arm to advance their speech recognition capabilities; makes sense. A huge database of voices of callers input into the system.
Out of curiosity, does Edge or 3G make a difference when making phone calls? I've made a couple of calls on Edge and then on 3G, and I don't know if I can tell the difference in quality...maybe it's just me.
The customs process is actually pretty easy. A guy from the fed ex warehouse wherever the phone entered the USA will call you and want to fax a form to you, go ahead and fill it out then send it back to him, then he'll release the phone. a week or two later you'll get a bill from Fed-Ex for the tax, it should be about $35. If you can't get the form back to him he won't send the phone, so if any of the above steps are going to snafu you (i.e. bringing that archaic bastard goddamn fax machine into the mix) then it's about $50 more to just get it from Expan$y$ and let them worry about all that crap.

[Q] HTC Ttouch Pro II, Fixing And Asking.

Hi...
I am not new to this part of the forum and I have searching for long time for an answer to my question.
My device stopped working, so i did a little researched on the forum (like it says on the rules) and figured that my flex cable made the problem.
Ordered one on Ebay and got it.
Today i fixed my phone and it's working (BTW it's T7373), but i noticed that on the cable there is a front camera :O and the phone still working.
Will I be able to use the camera ???
In WinMo, probably. But for what? I'm not sure what use the front cam is in WinMo.
i thought maybe on android with skype...

So that when you take those lame self pics that everyone likes to do (probably looking slightly up at the phone/camera) you can make sure that you see that the pic is centered properly.

Does your device even have a pin hole for the camera to fit in the front housing? I'm not 100% certain, but only the unlocked and international versions had the hole in the front housing that could seat the camera. Other models had the opaque front panel. My point is that if you didn't have the front camera to begin with, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to use it now.
if you ever open the HTC Touch Pro II version you will know that a Flex Cable with front camera won't fit (because there was a Flex Cable without camera before).
So what i did was simple there are 2 plastics like this | | and i took them out.
like this phone was designed to be with front camera in the future like the Sprint version.

I understand that part. I was questioning the opaque front panel of the device in the top right corner where the camera would normally go. I'll illustrate with an image below.

Wouldn't you need to replace the front panel in order to even get an image from the front camera?
I have Touch Pro 2 (T7373, rhod100) and i have front camera which work in windows mobile. In GSM 3G (UMTS) network it can make video calls.

On stock ROMs, it's activated only in the dialer AFAIK. No option to switch in the camera app that I've seen. Video calls are based on the network, though. US carriers don't allow any WM devices to send 3G video calls.

Yea, I originally thought about going with a European model for the front camera, but we found out that all four big US carriers had the video call option blocked. Either way, the VGA front cam isn't very good for video calling or anything at all, for that matter.
EDIT: Another fun bit is that video calling over 3G is worse overall on CDMA than on GSM, due to the technical qualifications of 3G. CDMA classifies 3G as data speeds at or above 100Kbps, which is technically correct according to the definition of 3G. GSM classifies that within EDGE data speeds. For us, it's more like 2.5G. This difference maintains for GSM, a higher QoS for data intensive duties done over 3G/HSPA, by limiting the lower end of the data stream to 350-500Kbps. For me, it doesn't really make a difference other than to serve as bragging rights in my area about how my EDGE speeds are faster than Sprint's 3G speeds most of the time.

lol. I'm just a cheap bastard. I probably wouldn't be on Sprint if I wasn't... their 3g data speeds are an atrocity.

If T-Mobile actually has service in your area, they're even cheaper. Pair that $30 unlimited text/data package from Walmart with Google Voice to get a complete Unlimited plan for a whopping $30. T-Mobile doesn't even have 3G where I currently live (I'm not in New Orleans currently). Their EDGE speeds are plenty fast enough.
I've also been with them for 7 or 8 years now out of contract, so I still pay the same $50 a month for everything. It costs $30 for 1000 minutes per month, which is basically unlimited for me since I only use about 500 or 600 a month, $10 for unlimited texts, and $10 for unlimited data. I signed up so long ago that I don't have a data soft cap, or any tethering restrictions. It's wonderful. Add to this the AMAZING customer service they have, and you've got an all-around A+ company. If I were contemplating suicide, I'd call 611, and have a TMo rep talk me down, because they're just that good.
Those are my reasons for not wanting the merger to go through, and why I love Sprint to death for being openly against it, even if it is for their own gain. The only downside to TMo is the coverage. There's no 3G for about 60 miles around me. EDGE works perfectly fine for what I do, though.

Galaxy Nexus on AT&T

Debating on picking one up or waiting for the Skyrocket HD. I'm sure the SGSIII won't hit shores till November. Reading through the posts is appears the Nexus still has alot of quirks and issues that have yet to worked out. Being that the GSM Nexus is a unlocked overseas import, I'm a bit nervous about getting it and dealing with numerous reboots, ect and being screwed (ie...don't have the option to take it back and get another device from Verizon). So my question is is the GSM having as many issues as the CDMA Nexus? Anyone with the GSM want to chime in. Negri has the nexus with a $25 off coupon for $620ish, but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger with all these issues I'm reading about.
Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
Have a GSM Nexus from Negri and it has been without fault. The phone is stable, fast and very good looking. I would do it again. I also have it on AT&T.
Issues such as what?
Battery? These are coming from LTE versions of the phone. GSM is fine.
Speaker? Get volume+ and boost the speaker
Not having any problems with the phone. I'd recommend it. I purchased from negri as well.

Glad to hear it. I wasn't fond of moving over to Verizon. How are the network speeds? Did you have to go into AT&T to get a sim? I have a microsim in my 4s, can I just get an adapter and pop it in and be GTG?

Using micro sim from 4s with adapter. Speeds are good, generally 5-6mbps down and 2mbps up. Really, not complaints and never went into AT&T nor called them. The joy of having GSM.

I made the switch to Verizon ... my battery lasts me through the workday if I forget to charge it (and about 50% of the time I'm in the basement and the phone is constantly searching for a signal that just isn't there, so it drains a bit faster than it normally would). The GSM version is supposed to be significantly better, so I don't see how the battery issue would be a concern for you.
The network is amazing on Verizon though, my BAD speeds beat my GOOD speeds when I was on Tmo.
If I wasn't getting a work discount though, I probably wouldn't have made the switch due to price. As it is, I'm paying about the same as Tmo and getting 1GB less data and no texts (I use Google Voice so this isn't an issue). But, I'm glad to have the extra 16GB storage since there isn't an option for expansion.
This phone (GSM or CMDA) is well worth it. It's been running great and has had no issues. The stock ringtones are a bit quiet, but if you use your own, it gets a lot better. I think most of the people who complained about the volume are using the stock tones.
Everything is pretty much smooth on this phone ... I haven't had any of the lag issues I've come to know from my G1, Vibrant and G2x.

Yeah, it's not so much the network, as Verizon is just as good as AT&T here in Illinois. It's that I have unlimited data and staying with AT&T allows me first crack at the the Galaxy S3 when it hits (not sure Verizon would even get that).
So it looks like their are different builds for different regions? Anyone know which build you get from Negri?

Depends where they get their shipment from. Surely they're sourcing them from wherever they can. If it really bothers you that much, you'll always be able to just flash the "official" Google yakju build. Although I have doubts it really matters as much as ppl think.

To be honest its either get a Galaxy Nexus or a Sgs2 variant. These are the two top phones out right now. I'm coming from a sgs2 and don't regret it. With the 32GB coming there is really nothing else to want. The sgs3 won't be here for another 6-8 months if that. I have to see how quadcores play with the battery.
The issues you mention can be fixed with a kernel/baseband flash. I had the phone for almost a week and only had 1 reboot and that was probably off of me testing radios and kernels. No grainy lines. Volume was fixed by volume+. Best phone I had and I almost touched every phone out carrier wise. The support is there that's all you need. If there is a issue XDA can fix it.
Unless it's a broken power button lol

I could kick myself for not jumping on that. Anyone know when the 32gb model will be available?
I'm also on AT&T and am extremely happy with this phone. I got mine on Amazon through one of the resellers. I haven't talked to AT&T in years, and have been off contract for even longer.
I get about 3-7 mbps download speeds, but I live in a poor AT&T area. I haven't had the opportunity to try it out in a larger city yet. Battery life is phenomenal, and I solved the volume issues by downloading Volume+ for free from the dev's website. It's working great, so I think I'll toss him a couple bones by buying it legit from the market.
I don't use local music or movies on my phones, so 16gb will work out just fine for me. The only downside I've had is the inability to put the phone in USB Mass Storage, but there are apps to facilitate transfer (Wifi Explorer Pro is the one I use).
I just got my Nexus from Expansys-USA, and i haven't been happier. Came from a SGS2, and probably the biggest difference is the screen. The nexus is BEAUTIFUL! and needless to say, ICS is the most stable and complete Android version to date.
Im having no issues whatsoever, and like i said, i haven't been happier.
Edit: if you buy from Expansys, you get a $60 Simple Mobile refill card for free, which i sold on ebay for a cool $50. Not bad if I say so myself

I'm in Illinois, so I'm hit with about $70 worth of tax. $622 from Negri will be the way to go. But I hear great things about Expansys.
I got my Galaxy Nexus from Daily Steals, and it's working great. I immediately rooted it and installed CM9 on it. I had signal issues at first with the default radio, but I flashed UGKL1 which fixed all of my issues.

No. With all unlocked GSM phones, all you need to do is swap out your sim card. Then you're all set.
You don't have to ask for permission from your carrier like the Verizon and sprint customers do.

switched from ATT to verizon, picked up another gnex, GSM vs CDMA, my review

i had a gsm gnex on ATT, friday i ditched ATT and picked up verizon, loved my gnex, so i got a new one for my wife and i. here are my impressions of the differences between the gsm and cdma versions
first, i was easily able to use one click to unlock and root both gsm and cdma versions. the cdma did not require any special treatment to unlock, cwm, root and install 3rd party roms. it was the EXACT same procedure as the GSM.
physical differences, the cdma is just slightly thicker, honestly, i can barely tell, but, my cruzerlite case fit both just fine. the cdma feels slightly heavier, but not enough to make a difference. the power button feels harder to push in over my GSM version though, not a big deal though.
the screen on the CDMA version is perfect, my GSM had the typical banding streaks, cdma version, screen is crystal clear.
battery life was better on my GSM, but this is probably due to LTE
i never thought i would need over 16gb, since i have never had more than that on any device, but, i will say i will never have less than 32gb again, lol. the extra storage is nice! no more deleting music or backups just to install a game!
signal strength is about the same in different areas (home, work, places i frequent), but the LTE speeds are worlds difference over HSPA
all in all, the talk about the verizon gnex not a real gnex, not sure where or why that came about, it looks, feels and performs the same as my GSM.

One difference between the GSM and CDMA Nexus is that you can use the GSM Nexus on Straight Talk Sim (Att or Tmo) for $45 per month and the Verizon one will cost you anywhere between $85-$110 per months. Over the course of 2 years you could save around $700+ by using GSM, if I did my math right (Verizon phone is subsidized, GSM is unsubsidized).

i have multi line family plans, discounted from work. att was $160 per month, 700 minutes shared, 200 texts each month, 2 gb data on main line, 200mb on all others. verizon is $125, 4gb shared data plan, unlimited all others.
straight talk is cool if you're trying to save money, but, i can't rely on a straight talk service with running a business off my devices.

You are right. I guess it depends on how many lines you have. Shared data does probably benefit a person with three or more lines. For a single line or two lines, Straight Talk Sim is a way better option though, because you get 2+gigs of data with unlimited calls and text on each line.
It is really nice to be able to switch carriers as needed as opposed to "Here it comes were shoving it up your *** enjoy the year and a half you have left on your plan." Prepay is the only way for me. I come from sprint the land of "We"ll have that 4g\lte working any day now!" I don't miss it at all.

The reason it's not considered a true nexus is not really the phone it's the carrier The phone is great, its the 2 moron companies Verizon and sprint that jack around forever waiting to let the updates come through for the nexus. It becomes somewhat ordinary when the gsm gets it and you are still waiting......but you most likely know all this. I'm sure lte is great but on a 4gb shared cap it's not that big of a deal.

i dropped att 7 months into the contract, no fees, they were not providing me with the data speeds i needed, i was able to leave contract because of this. just because you're in a contract, doesn't mean you can't get out if they are not providing you with the service you signed up for.

you and i both know that anyone here, should care less about OTA updates. i think friday was the first time, in over 10 years of smart phones/pdas, that i have ever done an OTA update.
It's too bad your Att is that slow. I can get anywhere between 3-7mbs down with Straight Talk Att. You can get 4gigs (maybe eve more) of data with 2 Straight Talk lines for $90 total per month ($45 for each line). That's a lot less than $125 per month, and its contract free. But I understand you gotta have decent coverage, it's worth nothing without coverage.
This phone (gsm) version is the first one i have felt i didn't NEED to do something to. It's nice just to be able to run it as google intended it to be rather than root/rom so it brings it to the point where it's enjoyable. That's what makes the cdma version a little weak, you are FORCED to do something if you want latest and greatest. Will most people root/rom the cdma and gsm versions? I suppose, but it's really nice to not feel like you HAVE to. Did it feel nice to do that ota update? It's almost like moving into a modern world. Ten years of messing with phones to get it right? Seems at this point we should know what to buy and from which carrier to buy it from to make our lives a little easier, don't you think?

I don't know if you've seen a Verizon nexus or not, but i feel the same way about not needing to flash a Rom right out of the box. I just got my nexus about a week ago, and 15 minutes after i got it activated, i got the jellybean update. It's as pure Google as they come. The only apps Verizon has on there was My Verizon Mobile and backup assistant. I used to have a droid charge, and I'm glad to say that the nexus was a welcome change. The only thing i really had to do to it was install the Swype keyboard, and it's perfect (for now).

i dropped att 7 months into the contract, no fees, they were not providing me with the data speeds i needed, i was able to leave contract because of this. just because you're in a contract, doesn't mean you can't get out if they are not providing you with the service you signed up for.

This isn't the case with sprint, we switched (my family) to Verizon from Sprint, every line had to pay 150$ i think. Data was spotty and Verizon had brought Lte to our little area in VA. meanwhile, sprint was discontinuing the rollout of Wimax and began creating their LTE towers, so there was no way we were waiting for that again. We had already had wimax 4g phones so we needed new phones anyway. Long story short, Sprints unlimited data is useless in many suburban and even urban areas.

here's what i did to get out, no fees.
i called tech support because i suddenly stopped getting signal at work. they opened a ticket, called me back the next day saying it was "resolved". i had no change. i started losing reception at home, and the signal started getting spotty everywhere else. i call tech support again, they tell me it's my phone, ok, i have plenty of extras, so i swap sim into another phone, same results. they tell me my sim needs to be exchanged and reprovisioned and i need to go to the att store to do so. i go to the att store, they stare at me like i was speaking a foreign language and basically tell me "no". i go back home, call tech support, they tell me go back to store, they will call the store. i go back to the store, talk to rep, he now knows what to do. so he gets a new sim, reprovisions it, then tells me to run a speed test, because this will fix all my problems. i ran it, 80kbs, he was like, uh... i call tech support from my phone with the sales rep, the line was so staticy the tech rep had to call us back at the store, tech support tells me there's nothing more they can do and that their policy is they can't guarantee service everywhere. i then contacted the BBB, teh FCC and the attorney generals office for complaints. i then get a call back from the office of executives at att, my line was so staticy that they immediately cancelled the account right there.
if you are plagued with issues, you can get out of the contract. the BBB is a great resource, they have to respond to close out the complaint filed with the BBB

HTC M8 not available on T-Mobile

Wow... I don't know what to say. It would appear that T-Mobile is not carrying the M8 at this time unless HTC screwed up on their site:

If T-Mobile doesn't get this phone, its going to seriously hurt both companies. I really hope this is just an oversight...
EDIT: Its true. Not til some time in April.

I guess T-Mobile is pushing the S5 so much that they are purposely crippling the M8 sales. Bad move. I'm tempted to pay off my EIP and switch carriers.
give it time. the m8 is up on best buy and Verizon but the links don't work yet

T-Mobile already confirmed that they won't have it until April, I put a link to a Tmonews story in my post: http://www.tmonews.com/2014/03/t-mobile-to-sell-htc-one-m8-online-and-in-stores-from-next-month/
T-Mobile said it in a press release. *sigh*
Considering that Sprint is getting it (and already has it on their site for order), I'm beyond pissed at T-Mobile for this and if they didn't have excellent coverage in Denver, I'd pay off my EIP and leave over it.
I guess the good news is that by the time T-Mobile customers can buy it, we'll know what issues it has and hopefully have S-OFF. I guess there is a silver lining by not being a launch day customer but still, I've been JUMP eligible since January 27th so I'm getting anxious...
BestBuy Link?

It's a place to start. Thanks.
Yeah, this is really disappointing. I was a little hesitant on the M8 based on my frustration with the camera on the M7. But with the recent photos and hype around the announcement, I was all set to go pick one up today. At this point though, I'll probably wait until the announcement of the OnePlus One on 4/23 to see exactly what that phone has to offer before I make a decision.
yeah its up now on best buy but says coming soon. No T mobile though. Just Sprint, Verizon and AT&T
The links for Best Buy are up... But it's only AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless... I can't see any unlocked version for a T-Mobile customer.

Best Buy doesn't sell T-Mobile phones so the gold is forever going to be off limits to T-Mobile customers unless they buy an at&t and unlock it.
I'm getting more and more bent about this the more I think about it. I can't believe that T-Mobile chose to do Samsung's bidding considering how long HTC and T-Mobile have been partners... G1, the MyTouch series... I mean really T-Mo?
What's the OnePlus? I've not heard anything about that.

Yep! The #HTCOne is coming to @Tmobile. Stay tuned for more details!

The OnePlus One is a device being built by a bunch of former Oppo engineers. There haven't been any images leaked but the specs sound pretty good (5.5 inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3100mah battery, 13mp camera, etc). It will be running Cyanogenmod stock and is supposed to come in under $500.
I'm due for an upgrade through Jump as well, but T-Mobile's delay on getting the One will certainly give me more time to consider other options. Probably not good for HTC.

Sure...but why not available as other carriers. The way they are pushing GS5 looks like they did this on purpose and screwing customers.
Uncarrier? Not really

Looks good but hopefully it has LTE and T-Mobile bands. I just noticed that Oppo's new Find 7 finally has LTE so Oppo devices are now back on the table for consideration.
My big thing is warranty... If something breaks on a phone I buy from T-Mobile, I call them, they send me a replacement and I send them the broken device, they handle the warranty claim. If I physically break my device, Asurion takes care of it. I don't know I want to leave that comfortable system.

I certainly understand that. The T-Mo warranty program is hard to beat - I've had to use it a couple of times myself. It's another reason I wouldn't consider another provider. Just wish T-Mo was getting the M8 today like the other major players here in the US.
Update from T-Mobile is that it will release on April 11th. I'd prefer to have this phone subsidized, but this is how T-Mob is doing business these days, at $0 down.

This bent out of shape......over 2 weeks...... Life must be pretty rough and stressful......
Can't wait to get this bad boy and get back to running sense, I'm so over samsung! I'm just happy it's coming to tmobile! :good:
Exactly.

That delay will allow us to see if there are any problems with the M8. I heard the pictures are better than the M7 and that after a week of testing, the M8 apparently doesn't overheat (which caused the tint problem in cameras) due the 801 cpu. Until I can try it at t-mobile, I'm gonna keep reading up on stories on it. Don't know about theOne Plus though, I should look into it.
The VZW variant works with T-Mobile. There is a YouTube in the Verizon M8 thread that shows a guy pop out his VZW sim and exchange it for a T-Mobile version. Works. LTE and all.
